The Project Procurement & Sales Specialist leads the strategic sourcing and procurement efforts for large-scale construction ("mega-project") opportunities across CMC Construction Services. This role exercises independent judgment and discretion in evaluating vendor capabilities, developing competitive pricing strategies, and managing complex, multi-line sourcing initiatives. Partnering cross-functionally with Sales, Operations, and Estimating leadership, this position plays a critical role in driving project profitability, mitigating supply chain risk, and enabling CMC's growth in high-value construction markets.

This position may be based in any of the following locations: Baton Rouge, LA; Houston, TX; Dallas, TX; or Austin, TX. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of one of these offices and will be aligned to the location that best supports business needs.

What You'll Do
  • Lead end-to-end procurement strategy for project-based sourcing, including RFQs ranging from 5 to 100+ line items, ensuring alignment with project specifications, margin targets, and delivery timelines
  • Analyze and evaluate vendor proposals using independent judgment to assess pricing competitiveness, material availability, lead times, and overall value - making sourcing recommendations that directly impact project profitability
  • Develop and maintain strategic vendor relationships, negotiating favorable terms and identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency and supply reliability
  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Estimating leadership to influence project execution strategy, advise on material sourcing feasibility, and provide data-driven procurement insights
  • Drive sourcing strategy for national and mega-project initiatives, including early-stage construction opportunities, proactively identifying risks and developing mitigation plans
  • Prioritize and manage competing procurement demands across multiple active projects, exercising discretion in resource allocation and timeline management
  • Identify process improvement opportunities within the procurement function to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of sourcing operations
  • Prepare and present procurement analyses and recommendations to internal stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making at the project and leadership level
What You'll Need
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, estimating, or project coordination within a construction or industrial environment
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in evaluating vendors, negotiating terms, and making sourcing decisions
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage complex, competing priorities
  • Proficiency in vendor coordination, quotation development, and cost analysis
  • Experience supporting large-scale or "mega" construction projects with multi-vendor sourcing requirements preferred
  • Familiarity with RFQ management platforms and procurement systems preferred
Your Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field - or equivalent combination of education and progressive experience
