Job summary

Toole Design Group in Oakland, CA is seeking a Project Planner to join our interdisciplinary team. You will lead analyses, manage projects, and engage with clients and communities to turn visions into actionable plans. Travel regionally with a focus on safe, inclusive transportation networks.

The role emphasizes equity, climate, safety, and health, with a collaborative culture and hybrid schedule (in-office Tue–Thu, optional WFH other days). Proficiency in Spanish is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in planning, engineering, design, public health, or related fields including advocacy, outreach, program management, or policy work.
• Fluent in Spanish: communicate with Spanish-speaking community members to gather input, answer questions, and support inclusive public engagement.
• Transportation & engagement skills: passion for active transportation and travel options for all ages and abilities, experience with multimodal planning and public engagement.
• Project & communication skills: ability to manage projects/tasks, collaborate on teams, and clearly communicate technical ideas in writing.
• Technical tools: proficient in Excel and comfortable with descriptive statistics.

Responsibilities

• Lead analyses on multimodal corridors and Safe Routes to School projects.
• Manage projects and tasks, and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Engage directly with clients and communities to move plans from vision to implementation.
• Conduct fieldwork and community outreach, traveling regionally.
