Job summary

Toole Design in Oakland, CA is seeking a Planner to join our interdisciplinary team. You will lead analyses, manage projects, and engage with clients and communities to move visions into practical, equitable transportation plans for streets and public spaces.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in planning or related fields, a Bachelor's in planning, and fluency in Spanish. You will collaborate on multimodal projects, communicate clearly, and enjoy a flexible hybrid schedule with in-office days and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in planning or related fields; Bachelor's degree; additional years may substitute for education.
• Fluent in Spanish; engage with Spanish-speaking community members.
• Experience with multimodal planning and public engagement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and project management.
• Proficiency with Excel and descriptive statistics.
• Bonus: local knowledge and professional network.
• Bonus: visual communication skills with maps/graphics (Adobe/ArcGIS).
• Bonus: marketing and business development interest.

Responsibilities

• Lead analyses and manage projects on multimodal transportation initiatives.
• Collaborate with clients and communities to move plans from vision to implementation.
• Conduct fieldwork and community outreach; travel regionally as needed.
• Support interdisciplinary teams across urban streets, trails, and Complete Streets.
