Based within Housing Services, you will play a lead role in supporting the delivery of major refurbishment and specialist improvement projects to our housing stock.
The Major Projects Team is responsible for the maintenance and refurbishment of the Council’s high-rise blocks of flats, ensuring safe, warm and secure homes for our residents.
We are delivering an accelerated external cladding remediation programme across 24 high-rise blocks. The programme seeks to remove unsafe cladding and external wall insulation from these blocks and replace it with compliant, non-combustible systems, with completion targeted by the end of 2029.
Working closely with our Construction Programme Manager, Turner & Townsend and the appointed contractors this role will focus on ensuring residents are informed, involved, and supported throughout the lifecycle of the remediation programme.
As a Project Officer you will lead and coordinate resident engagement and consultation activities throughout the programme and the projects within it. You will act as the main point of contact between residents, project teams, contractors, and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and positive relationships. Key duties include organising meetings and engagement events, developing resident communications and information materials, supporting resident liaison staff, and gathering and analysing feedback to improve project delivery.
The role also involves proactively managing resident concerns and complaints, monitoring the effectiveness of engagement activities, producing performance reports for senior management, and promoting best practice in resident engagement across Capital Works and Specialist Projects.
The team currently have live refurbishment projects at St Judes, Ropewalk House and Beaufort House and are also working on applications to the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) for approval for projects at 6 other high-rise blocks. As a Project Officer you will support these projects through
Coordinating monthly reporting of project progress by Surveyors and bringing together the reports to support updates of the team's master plan and report updates to the Capital Project Management Office
working alongside the Construction Project Manager to update the master plan
supporting arrangements for regular resident meetings on live projects and coordinating the delivery of actions arising from these meetings
supporting colleagues within the team on developing processes and checklists in relation to information required for applications to the BSR and collation for the golden thread.
Working closely with Surveyors to update project plans, risk logs and file structures to ensure the provision of up-to-date project information
Specialist Projects Team is responsible for delivering structural repairs, refurbishment of older housing stock, loft conversions, property extensions, drainage investigations and remedial works. The team also provides specialist technical advice and project support across Housing & Landlord Services, helping to address complex property issues and support wider service objectives.
Working as part of this specialist team, you will support the management and delivery of projects from inception through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with landlord objectives.
You will bring a structured project management approach, helping to drive innovation, continuous improvement and value for money across a range of housing investment and improvement projects.
You will support officers in the required procurement processes in relation to specific projects
Based at Sandy Park Depot, you will work closely with surveyors, contractors, consultants, housing staff and residents to coordinate project activities, monitor progress, manage risks and support successful project outcomes.
We are looking for organised and proactive individuals with strong project management skills and experience delivering or supporting projects within housing, property, construction, asset management or a related environment.
