Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

Location: Can be remote - Travel Required – Various Project Sites

Industry: Underground Utility Construction – Water/Wastewater

Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview: The Water Project Manager oversees underground water and wastewater utility projects, ensuring safety, high-quality, and on-schedule completion. This role coordinates field crews, subcontractors, and clients to deliver successful project outcomes while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. Candidates must have strong leadership skills and experience managing water infrastructure work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operations of water/wastewater utility projects
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and permitting requirements
  • Coordinate project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, inspectors, and vendors
  • Monitor crew performance, subcontractors, and material deliveries
  • Track project progress and cost, and submit regular updates and reports
  • Review plans, specifications, and construction documents
  • Promote a culture of safety and accountability across all teams
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in water/wastewater utility construction
  • Strong understanding of underground utility installation, including water main and sewer systems
  • Proven experience leading crews and managing subcontractors
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and utility construction drawings
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or equivalent work experience preferred
Requirements:
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Must pass a urinalysis drug screening
  • Willingness to travel
  • Willingness to work in various outdoor weather conditions and environments
