Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems

We are founder-led, profitable, and growing. We are hiring a Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems. This role involves coordinating and completing large, complex customer-facing projects, overseeing all aspects of delivery, and acting as the primary liaison between Canonical's engineering teams and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Managing projects through their lifecycle to meet goals for Canonical and clients
• Delivering engineering professional services for assigned projects
• Collaborating with engineering teams on custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery
• Developing project statements of work
• Drafting and maintaining project schedules and plans
• Securing client agreement on schedules and work items
• Ensuring projects are within scope, time, and resources
• Managing risk mitigation plans
• Driving technical issues to resolution
• Communicating regularly with clients and stakeholders
• Managing delivery schedules of third-party vendors
• Keeping management informed on project status
• Identifying and managing engineering requests outside existing contracts
• Advocating for Canonical technologies with customers
• Supporting support for different time zones and non-traditional hours as needed

Qualifications

• Experience managing engineering services projects, software development teams, and field engineers
• Experience managing cross-cultural, multi-continent project resources, especially in Asia, Europe, and the Americas
• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math preferred
• Knowledge of Linux, open source community, and computer architecture
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with experience building partnerships
• PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 certification preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours and travel up to 4 times a year
