We are hiring a Project Manager - Ubuntu Embedded Systems at Canonical.

As a Project Manager for Canonical's Devices division, this role oversees large, complex customer-facing projects, managing all aspects of delivery and acting as the main liaison between engineering teams and customers.

You will manage projects involving Ubuntu image delivery on devices such as robots, edge gateways, IoT devices, PCs, and automotive systems. This high-profile position requires building and maintaining relationships with team members, customers, partners/vendors (Silicon vendors, OEMs, ODMs, IHVs), and other departments.

Location: Remote in the Americas region.

• Manage projects through their lifecycle, ensuring goals for Canonical and clients are met
• Deliver engineering professional services for projects
• Work with engineering teams on custom board enablement and Ubuntu image delivery
• Develop project statements of work
• Create and maintain project schedules and plans
• Obtain client agreement on schedules and work items
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and resources
• Manage risk mitigation plans
• Resolve technical issues to achieve delivery outcomes
• Communicate regularly with clients and internal stakeholders
• Manage delivery schedules of third-party deliverables
• Update management on project status
• Identify and address custom engineering requests outside existing contracts
• Advocate for Canonical technologies to customers
• Support support different time zones and non-traditional hours as needed

What we are looking for in you

• Experience managing engineering services projects with software development teams and field engineers
• Proven success managing cross-cultural, multi-continent project resources, especially in Asia, Europe, and the Americas
• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math preferred
• Knowledge of Linux, open source community, and computer architecture
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with experience building partnerships and managing complex organizational relationships
• PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 certification preferred
• Ability to work non-standard hours to support global teams
• Willingness to travel up to 4 times per year for internal events
