Job summary

Doral Corporation, a Milwaukee-based Specialty Industrial Contractor & Steel Fabricator, seeks a Project Manager to oversee structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects from scope through completion. You will coordinate estimators, detailers, suppliers, and foremen to ensure on-time fabrication and erection.

The role requires handling multiple projects across Milwaukee and nationwide, with travel as needed, and a strong focus on budgeting, safety, and client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Construction Management or 3–5 years of project management or estimating experience.
  • Experience with CAD or Tekla is a plus.
  • Good oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to remain cool under pressure and handle multiple jobs simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • From project handoff, work with estimators to understand the project scope, details, specifications, costs, contract values, potential suppliers and schedules.
  • Prepare a detailed scope of work for each job to be quoted from on-site project review and bid documents.
  • Provide detailed estimates for materials, labor, equipment, travel, subcontractors, permits, etc.
  • Review contract language prior to quotes, including schedule, subcontractor agreements, payment terms, insurance/bonding, liquidated damages.
  • Create and manage project schedules and procurement in ERP and PM systems.
  • Coordinate and lead kickoff meetings with team members.
  • Issue purchase orders and coordinate timely ordering of materials.
  • Oversee fabrication, erection, and installation processes and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Monitor project costs, change orders, and forecasts; communicate with customers and vendors.

About the Role

As a Project Manager – Structural Steel & Misc. Metals, you will support our rapidly growing operations as a full-service Specialty Industrial Contractor & Steel Fabricator. You will be responsible for project managing a wide variety of projects involving structural steel, miscellaneous metals, custom metals, fabrication, and erection. In addition to our strong core business in Milwaukee and the surrounding areas, we work nationwide so there is the possibility of travelling the country as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. From project handoff, work with estimators to clearly understand the project scope, details, specifications, estimated costs, contract values, potential suppliers and subcontractors and project schedules.
  2. Able to prepare a detailed scope of work for each job to be quoted from an on-site project review and gather all bid documents provided by the customer.
  3. Able to provide a detailed estimate for projects including cost of materials, labor, equipment, travel expenses, subcontractors, permits, etc.
  4. Able to review and understand contract language prior to completing and sending a quote; this includes schedule, subcontractor agreements, payment terms, insurance/bonding requirements, liquidated damages, etc.
  5. Complete project estimates including scope
  6. Communicate and set up projects in the ERP and internal Project Management Systems.
  7. Establish SOV’s for customer billings.
  8. Complete Doral Internal Schedules including coordination with detailers, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors and communicate to customers.
  9. Coordinate and lead project kick off meetings with appropriate team members.
  10. Work with Purchasing Agent to create and distribute required purchase orders and timely ordering of materials.
  11. Work with Project Management Administrator on timely issuance of Subcontract Agreements.
  12. Organize, communicate and coordinate project schedules including issuance of Agreements, submittals, approvals, deliveries, shop fabrication, trucking and deliveries.
  13. Oversee fabrication process, have a clear understanding of fabrication process including engineering and detailing for all projects, materials, required, timely purchasing, and communicate clearly to shop for seamless fabrication process.
  14. Oversee and manage installation and erection.
  15. Facilitate, track, monitor and cost project RFI’s.
  16. Review project costing and forecast overall project costs throughout the duration of the project(s) including material purchases, subcontracts, fabrication hours, trucking and field labor.
  17. Manage project change orders including scope and schedule changes.
  18. Complete project post-mortem meeting notes, schedule and lead post-mortem meetings.
  19. Stay in constant communication with customers regarding current and future work opportunities to maintain ongoing relationships.
  20. Coordinate internally with the Support Group and/or Fabrication Group to get the necessary labor and equipment ready and into the schedule with a clear scope of work and schedule.
  21. Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to get all necessary materials and services ordered.
  22. Start the job off with foreman and make sure there is a clear understanding of what all is involved, keep in constant communication throughout the job providing any information/support needed.
  23. Work with the accounting department to ensure all costs are accounted for and job is coming in on budget and that bills are going out in a timely manner.
  24. Keep in touch with the customer to confirm the job is being completed to their satisfaction.
  25. Follow corporate process including safety, quoting, document control, scheduling, tool lists, call off’s, change order management, job costing, job billing, and job forecasting.
  26. Assist with job planning including scheduling, safety, manpower, equipment, and material requirements.
Knowledge and Skill
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Construction Management or 3-5 years of industry experience in a Project Management or Estimating position.
  • Experienced with a PC and Microsoft Office, ability to use CAD or Tekla is a plus.
  • Good oral and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to remain cool under pressure and handle multiple jobs/responsibilities at the same time.
