Overview

An employee-owned construction company is seeking a skilled Project Manager to coordinate all project activities and ensure customer satisfaction while maintaining profitability. This role is critical in managing timelines, budgets, and communication between clients, field teams, and shop personnel. The Project Manager will help deliver high-quality projects on schedule while fostering collaboration and efficiency across departments.

The Role

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing assigned projects from start to finish. Success in this role means ensuring projects meet customer requirements, remain profitable, and are completed on time. The Project Manager serves as the primary point of contact for technical questions, change orders, and project coordination while maintaining strong communication with internal teams and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Manage, organize, coordinate, and control project management functions for assigned projects.
  • Support the RFI process, reviewing submissions to ensure clarity and prompt responses.
  • Issue change orders as needed, balancing customer fairness with company cost coverage.
  • Coordinate shop production, material availability, and approved drawings to meet project schedules.
  • Serve as primary customer interface for technical questions and project coordination issues.
  • Work independently while collaborating with management and other departments to ensure communication, coordination, and profitability.
  • Respond promptly to emails, phone calls, and inquiries to maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Maintain flexibility and composure while juggling multiple priorities and adjusting to changing demands.
  • Uphold company reputation through professional appearance, actions, and outstanding client service.
  • Create a positive and productive work environment for team members, customers, and vendors.
  • Stay informed on steel industry trends and general economic conditions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or 5–7 years of commercial construction experience (structural steel experience preferred).
  • General knowledge of commercial construction trades for coordination purposes.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with FabSuite or Bluebeam a plus.
  • Excellent planning, negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Problem-solving ability and capacity to work independently while making sound decisions.
Nice to Have

  • Prior experience managing structural and miscellaneous steel projects.
