GPI is seeking an experienced Structural Engineering Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex bridge and transportation infrastructure projects throughout New England, with a primary focus on MassDOT and municipal clients. About the Role

GPI is seeking a full-time Structural Engineering Project Manager to join our growing New England team in either our Wilmington, MA or Boston, MA office. Our flexible work environment allows employees to balance time between the office and remote work while remaining actively engaged with project teams and clients.

This position will lead the management and delivery of structural design projects across New England, with a strong emphasis on MassDOT assignments. Current projects include the design, rehabilitation, preservation, and repair of multi-span bridges, large-span bridges, signature structures, retaining walls, and dams. Backed by a strong project backlog and long-standing client relationships, this role provides exceptional opportunities for leadership, professional growth, and career advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all aspects of bridge design, rehabilitation, and structural engineering projects from planning through final delivery.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams, balancing resources and coordinating engineering activities throughout project development.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with MassDOT, municipal agencies, and other transportation clients.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including proposal preparation, project interviews, and marketing initiatives.
  • Oversee project scope, schedules, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
  • Coordinate design development, contract document preparation, and technical reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Facilitate meetings with client agencies and regulatory organizations to ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Monitor project workload and staffing requirements to maintain efficiency and meet project schedules.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, supporting technical growth and career progression.
  • Serve as a key contributor to the continued expansion of GPI's structural engineering practice throughout New England.
Preferred Additional Experience
  • Leading bridge inspections for state and local transportation agencies.
  • Managing and reviewing bridge load rating analyses.
  • Overseeing hydrologic and hydraulic studies associated with bridge and transportation projects.
  • Supporting asset management and infrastructure preservation programs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Massachusetts required.
  • 8 to 20+ years of structural engineering and project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering bridge and transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with MassDOT, New England state DOTs, municipalities, and transportation agencies.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • NHI/FHWA Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges certification preferred.
  • NHI/FHWA Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges certification preferred.
  • MassDOT project management and design experience strongly preferred.
