Job summary

MPI, a respected Ohio-based General Contractor, is seeking a Project Manager to help lead their expanding special projects division. You will oversee on-site safety, manage subcontractor meetings, and guide project scope through to successful completion.

Ideal candidates bring construction project management experience with GC exposure, strong ability to read drawings, and excellent communication with management, subcontractors and clients.

Qualifications

  • Background in Construction Project Management, Assistant Project Management, or Project Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, technologies, and project details.
  • Prior experience managing projects for a general contractor.
  • Ability to thoroughly review and interpret construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
  • Clear and effective communication with management, subcontractors, architects and clients.
  • Familiarity with key skilled trades including carpentry, masonry, concrete work, site prep, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC and electrical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide project oversight while promoting and maintaining a strong, proactive safety culture on site.
  • Oversee the creation and evaluation of bid packages to secure competitive subcontractor proposals.
  • Facilitate regular subcontractor meetings on the job site to help ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Review monthly billing and manage the documentation and approvals required to maintain timely project funding.
  • Lead cost-tracking efforts, including contracts, purchase orders, and scope adjustments, to support overall project goals.
  • Monitor the financial performance of the project and maintain accurate forecasting.
  • Act as the company's representative during subcontractor negotiations.

Job Description

The Project Manager Will Be Required To:

The Successful Applicant
The Ideal Project Manager Will Have:
  • Background in Construction Project Management, Assistant Project Management, or Project Engineering.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, technologies, and project details.
  • Prior experience managing projects for a general contractor.
  • Ability to thoroughly review and interpret construction documents, including drawings and specifications.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with teams, partners, and stakeholders such as management, subcontractors, consultants, architects, vendors, and clients.
  • Familiarity with key skilled trades, including carpentry, masonry, concrete work, site preparation, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, and electrical systems.

  • Base Salary: $100,000-$130,000
  • Bonus: $9,000-$12,000 (in the first year)
