Job summary

gpac is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead geotechnical and heavy civil construction projects in the Charlotte, NC area. You will own projects from preconstruction through completion, coordinating design, procurement, and field teams while engaging with clients and supporting business development.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of geotechnical/heavy civil experience (foundation drilling, pile driving, earthwork, site development), and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or

Qualifications

• 5+ years of geotechnical, heavy civil, foundation, or related construction experience preferred.
• Experience with foundation drilling, pile driving, earthwork, site development, or similar scopes is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction estimating, scheduling, budgeting, contracts, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple geotechnical construction projects from planning through closeout
• Lead project teams while managing schedules, budgets, quality, safety, and overall execution
• Work directly with clients to ensure projects meet scope, schedule, and budget expectations
• Identify new opportunities, develop client relationships, and assist with business development
• Prepare and review proposals, estimates, risk assessments, technical information, and project scopes
• Participate in site visits, client Q&A, contract negotiations, and preconstruction planning
• Coordinate designs, submittals, material procurement, scheduling, and pre-job planning
• Partner closely with Superintendents and field teams to develop project strategies
• Identify project risks, challenges, and opportunities early and take action to protect profitability
• Manage change orders and ensure changes are properly documented and addressed
• Monitor project financials, forecasts, budgets, A/R, and overall project performance
• Maintain a strong focus on OSHA compliance, safety, and quality throughout each project

Project Manager - Geotechnical / Heavy Civil Construction

Charlotte, NC Area

One of my clients is in need of an experienced Project Manager to join their team and manage geotechnical and heavy civil construction projects ranging from approximately $50K to $5M.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in geotechnical construction, foundation drilling, pile driving, earthwork, site development, or related heavy civil work who enjoys owning projects from preconstruction through completion. You'll work directly with clients, lead project teams, and have a hand in both project execution and business development.

What You'll Be Doing

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of geotechnical, heavy civil, foundation, or related construction experience preferred
• Experience with foundation drilling, pile driving, earthwork, site development, or similar scopes is highly desirable
• Strong understanding of construction estimating, scheduling, budgeting, contracts, and risk managementli>
• Ability to build strong relationships with clients, field teams, subcontractors, and internal leadership
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $110,000-$125,000 annually, based on experience, qualifications, location, and other applicable factors.
