Job summary

Bolder Apps is seeking a mid-senior Project Manager (Shopify) for a remote monthly retainer. You will lead Shopify store builds and theme development for multiple client brands, interfacing with end clients and an internal team to deliver on timelines.

You’ll bring agency Shopify PM experience, manage scope and resources, and ensure clean handoffs. Strong English, FT remote work, and US overlap hours are expected.

Qualifications

• Agency Shopify PM experience with multiple client brands.
• Experience managing several Shopify projects concurrently.
• Excellent communication with end clients and internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage Shopify store build and theme development projects for client merchants and brands, often several at the same time
• Be the day-to-day owner facing the end client: scope, timelines, status, and hard trade-offs in clear English
• Manage the internal team (developers, designers, QA) so tickets, priorities, and blockers stay honest
• Translate merchant and brand goals into phased Shopify work that the team can actually ship
• Use real Shopify literacy (themes, apps, checkout, content, go-live constraints) to challenge fake estimates and spot launch risk early
• Run kickoff through launch for store builds and ongoing theme maintenance across different brands
• Keep US clients updated in writing and on live calls during agreed Eastern Time overlap
• Use AI tools to draft plans, tickets, status updates, and risk notes, then review the output yourself before it reaches a client
• Leave clean handoff docs so another PM or engineer can pick up without archaeology

This is for an agency PM who has managed projects for Shopify store builds and theme development: the kind of PM who works at an agency serving different merchants and brands, building and maintaining Shopify solutions across many client accounts. You’ll deal with the end client, manage the internal team, run multiple Shopify projects at once, and bring a solid understanding of how Shopify is structured and how it works. Requirements

• Agency Shopify PM experience. You have managed projects for Shopify store builds and theme development inside an agency that serves different merchants and brands, not only one internal store.
• Volume and multi-project. You have run as many Shopify client projects as you can honestly claim, often more than one brand at a time, and kept deadlines honest.
• End-client ownership. Comfortable dealing directly with merchants, founders, or brand stakeholders. You explain trade-offs without blaming the team.
• Internal team leadership. You manage developers and designers day to day: clear tickets, clear owners, clear status.
• Shopify literacy. Solid understanding of how Shopify is structured and how it works (themes vs apps vs checkout, content freezes, launch windows). You do not need to write Liquid, but you know what good Shopify delivery looks like.
• Delivery tools. Comfortable with Jira, Linear, Notion, Asana, or similar.
• AI-augmented workflow. You use ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or similar to move faster on plans and communication, and you catch when the draft is wrong for the client.
• English at C1 or above. Client calls and written updates go out in your voice.
• US hours overlap. Available through roughly 5 PM EST for live client coordination.
• Ownership habits. Honest timelines, early blockers, finished launches. No disappearing acts.
