Job description

Project Manager / Project Executive, Multi-Craft Industrial Operations

Level: Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, or Project Executive, based on experience

Schedule: Onsite and field-based; six 10-hour days per week during heavy project execution phases

About the Role

We are partnering with an established, institutionally backed industrial services organization seeking a Project Manager / Project Executive, Multi-Craft Industrial Operations to support its growing presence in Atlanta, Georgia. The organization self-performs the full lifecycle of heavy industrial work across electrical, mechanical, structural, soft crafts, underground utilities, fabrication, and inspection. As the platform scales, this person will help build the project execution practices, team, and operational structure that support long-term regional growth.

Reporting to the Atlanta Area Manager, this is a hands‑on leadership role with direct ownership of project execution, financial performance, and client relationships. Project management and field operations work as equal partners, with close collaboration across superintendents, general foremen, foremen, and project teams.

This opportunity can be calibrated to the Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, or Project Executive level based on experience and scope. The role is onsite and primarily based in the field across the Atlanta metropolitan area. During heavy project execution phases, schedules may include six 10-hour days per week. Candidates may bring experience from mission critical, semiconductor, advanced manufacturing, power generation, oil and gas, chemical, water, mining and metals, pharmaceutical, renewable energy, aviation, or federal industrial environments.

What You'll Do
Project Execution & Field Partnership
  • Personally manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, project schedules, and craft‑specific takeoffs.
  • Lead complex industrial projects from planning through completion, maintaining accountability for scope, schedule, quality, safety, and financial performance.
  • Conduct regular jobsite walks and partner directly with superintendents, general foremen, and field crews to address constructability challenges and execution needs.
  • Coordinate across estimating, preconstruction, safety, quality, procurement, accounting, and project controls.
  • Manage subcontractor onboarding, trade partner performance, and communications with owners and prime contractors.
  • Own project financial performance through disciplined cost‑to‑complete forecasting, labor tracking, and proactive change management.
  • Monitor earned versus actual labor hours, forecast final project costs, and provide accurate reporting to regional leadership.
  • Capture change orders promptly, improve RFI turnaround times, and maintain schedule performance against established baselines.
  • Identify project risks early and work with field leadership to resolve issues before they affect delivery or profitability.
Operational Development & Team Leadership
  • Establish standard operating procedures, project controls, and reporting practices for your craft discipline within the first six to twelve months.
  • Help standardize project execution across electrical, mechanical and structural, soft crafts, underground utilities, inspection, or fabrication scopes.
  • Mentor project engineers and junior project managers as the regional team grows.
  • Support team development by identifying experienced superintendents, foremen, and project management professionals within your network.
  • Use successful project delivery to strengthen owner relationships and create opportunities for ongoing operations and maintenance service agreements.
What We're Looking For
Required Experience & Qualifications
  • Demonstrated project management experience in heavy industrial construction, specialty contracting, energy infrastructure, or large‑scale facilities construction.
  • Strong experience in a self‑perform contracting environment, including direct collaboration with craft labor and field leadership.
  • Personal ownership of RFIs, submittals, change orders, scheduling, and cost‑to‑complete forecasting.
  • Deep expertise in at least one core discipline: critical electrical, mechanical and structural, soft crafts, underground utilities, inspection, or fabrication, with a willingness to expand across additional disciplines.
  • Strong project controls capabilities, including earned value management, forecast‑at‑completion, schedule management, and proactive change management.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or comparable construction management platforms.
  • Practical knowledge of jobsite safety, including Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR), Experience Modification Rate (EMR), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and leading safety indicators.
  • Ability to work onsite across the Atlanta metropolitan area and support demanding field schedules during active project execution.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience managing large‑scale industrial or engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects across multiple craft disciplines.
  • Mechanical, structural, substation, utilities, water solutions, or soft craft execution experience.
  • Owner‑side or industrial operator experience that provides insight into procurement, client expectations, and long‑term service relationships.
  • Familiarity with the Atlanta and broader Georgia market, including local permitting, inspection requirements, and labor conditions.
Leadership & Working Style
  • A hands‑on approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Clear, direct communication with executive leadership, clients, and field teams.
  • Comfort building processes and developing teams within a growing organization.
  • A collaborative leadership style that treats field operations and project management as partners.
  • Strong judgment, adaptability, and a commitment to developing the people around you.

  • Opportunity to build: Help shape regional project execution practices and establish the systems that support future growth.
  • Meaningful ownership: Take direct responsibility for project delivery, financial performance, and team development with significant autonomy.
