Job summary

Grid Careers, LLC seeks an experienced Project Manager for electrical testing and maintenance in Seattle. You will oversee projects across data centers, utilities, and commercial facilities, coordinating customers, field technicians and vendors to deliver safe, on-time, on-budget results.

The role requires knowledge of electrical testing/maintenance, NETA standards, and strong communication with technicians, engineers and facility personnel. Occasional travel in the Pacific Northwest is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing electrical testing, maintenance, commissioning or field-service projects.
  • Knowledge of low-, medium- and high-voltage equipment.
  • Familiarity with NETA testing standards and electrical safety requirements.
  • Experience coordinating electrical field technicians, engineers or subcontractors.
  • Strong scheduling, budgeting, labor planning and cost control.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, technical specs and project scopes.
  • Excellent communication, organization and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple active projects and changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and project-management software.
  • NETA certification or electrical field experience preferred but not required.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Responsibilities

Project Manager – Electrical Testing & Maintenance

Position Summary

A growing electrical testing and power-services company is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support its operations in the Seattle market. This position will manage projects for customers across data centers, utilities, industrial facilities, commercial buildings and other critical-power environments.

The Project Manager will coordinate customers, field technicians, vendors and internal departments to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate will understand electrical testing and maintenance services and be comfortable communicating with technicians, engineers, contractors and facility personnel.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage electrical testing, maintenance and commissioning projects from initial planning through final completion.
  • Coordinate project schedules, field technicians, test equipment, materials, subcontractors and customer requirements.
  • Review project scopes, proposals, purchase orders, drawings and technical specifications.
  • Work closely with field leadership to assign qualified technicians and ensure proper project staffing.
  • Track project costs, labor hours, materials, change orders and overall profitability.
  • Maintain regular communication with customers regarding schedules, progress, technical issues and project completion.
  • Ensure projects are performed safely and in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements and applicable industry standards.
  • Coordinate NETA acceptance and maintenance testing services.
  • Support projects involving switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, protective relays, cables, batteries and other electrical apparatus.
  • Identify changes in scope and prepare or coordinate change orders when necessary.
  • Review field reports, test documentation and closeout packages for accuracy and completeness.
  • Resolve scheduling, technical and customer-service issues that arise during projects.
  • Identify additional testing, maintenance, engineering and reliability services that could benefit customers.
  • Build strong relationships with customers, vendors, field personnel and internal teams.
  • Participate in project meetings, customer site visits and pre-job planning.
  • Travel to customer sites throughout the Pacific Northwest as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing electrical testing, maintenance, commissioning or field-service projects.

Ideal Background

The strongest candidate will come from a NETA-accredited testing company, electrical service organization, utility contractor, commissioning firm or related power-services business. Former field technicians, supervisors, estimators or service managers who have moved into project management would be especially well suited for this opportunity.
