Job summary

Universal Orlando Resort is seeking an IT Project Manager to drive successful planning and execution of technology projects. You will collaborate with operations, solutions delivery, infrastructure, governance, and security to define, develop, and deploy projects to production following the project life cycle.

The role requires 3+ years of PM experience, strong communication, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams. Some travel may be needed to support Parks Technology divisions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in MIS, Technology or Business.
  • Knowledge of project management concepts and processes, requirements gathering, or business analysis preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, secure, and manage resources for assigned project efforts following software development lifecycle and project implementation policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Develop and track budget and schedule; manage risks; track tasks; provide reports and issues/ action items with stakeholders.
  • Understand business problems and opportunities; support requirement discussions, design reviews, testing and remaining project activities to ensure resources participate and deliverables meet scope and schedule.
  • Communicate program information, status, and health metrics to stakeholders; facilitate inter-team communication and dependencies.
  • Trace requirements through the project lifecycle to ensure scope is delivered; participate in EH&S responsibilities as applicable.
  • Lead a project team and coordinate with internal clients and external vendors; some travel may be required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Project Manager has overall responsibility for the successful planning and execution of projects for IT. The Project Manager will work closely with the operations, solutions delivery, infrastructure, innovation, governance and security teams, business partners, and vendors to define, develop, and execute deployment of their assigned projects. The Project Manager ensures that the deployment of projects to the production environment follows the project life cycle methodology and successfully meets the business goals.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Works closely with all Technology teams, business partners, and Vendors to plan, organize, secure, and manage resources for assigned project efforts following software development lifecycle and project implementation policies and procedures as applicable. Independently research, analyze, identify, and document the tasks to achieve the project goals. Coordinate, facilitate, and lead project team meetings to accomplish project deliverables.
  • Responsible for the management of the project including: work statements, work breakdown structures, developing and tracking budget and schedule, tracking individual project tasks, providing risk analysis, tracking and resolving issues and action items, requirements gathering, quality assurance, providing various project management visibility and control measures and reports as needed and communicating to project team and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with our business partners to understand their business and system problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements. Support requirement discussions, requirement reviews, design reviews, testing and remaining project activities to ensure required resources participate and deliverables meet project scope and schedule.
  • Communicate Program Information, status, and key health metrics to stakeholders. Facilitate inter-team communication and resolution of Program-level dependencies, including weekly status meeting and monthly executive steering committee meetings.
  • Trace the requirements through life cycle of the project to ensure that the scope is managed and that the original requirements are delivered.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred in MIS, Technology or Business.
  • Other: Knowledge of project management concepts and processes, requirements gathering, or business analysis preferred.
EXPERIENCE
  • 3+ years equivalent work experience
  • Experience preferred in project management, business analysis
  • Requires the use of sound business judgment in coordinating the requirements of the user group(s) for a project
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving techniques required
  • Good in presentation, facilitation, communication, and negotiation required;
  • or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Project Management Certification is preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
  • Works with internal business clients and external vendors.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical manuals and procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw graphs, and interpret spreadsheets.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to build and lead a team in completing a project.
  • Some travel possible to support Parks Technology division and client locations.
