Project Manager II Overview

A Project Manager II is expected to manage multiple projects of moderate to high complexity concurrently and without direct supervision. Projects may include:

  • Managing 2–4 projects up to $60 million in value or a single project up to $25 million
  • Maintaining project margins greater than 15%
  • Overseeing retrofits, greenfield or brownfield projects for new or existing Knapp customers
  • Managing reference projects for new customer or product line
  • Integrating scope from two or more Knapp Group subsidiaries
  • Co‑managing limited third‑party equipment (under 25% of project scope)
  • Addressing minor contractual or schedule risks
  • Implementing minor software development of established Knapp products
  • Leading North American projects as part of a global program within the Knapp Group
Responsibilities
  • Ensure timely and detailed communication among project stakeholders, Knapp resources, suppliers, and others.
  • Steer project activities to meet timelines and success criteria.
  • Produce and distribute required documentation, including meeting minutes, agendas, critical‑path schedules, risk registers, status reports, and open issue lists.
  • Escalate issues appropriately to eliminate negative impact.
  • Operate and negotiate independently within Knapp policies, procedures and directives.
  • Champion the project within the Knapp Group from inception to completion.
  • Maintain clear communication with Knapp team members, stakeholders at Knapp AG and subsidiaries, and on‑site implementation leads.
  • Manage all commercial items and project schedules using critical‑path methodology.
  • Coordinate budgets, change‑order pricing, proposals and subcontract management.
  • Evaluate RFQs and major procurements in coordination with Procurement and Final Engineering.
  • Manage sub‑contracts for third‑party equipment and service providers.
  • Coordinate resource planning with internal teams (installation, commissioning, product, etc.).
  • Drive resolution of all project‑related open issues.Lead multiple small projects simultaneously and manage project teams, which may include a Site Manager, Installation Supervisors and Commissioning Engineers.
  • Occasionally serve as a process owner for core project management tools.
Qualifications
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Passport or ability to obtain passport.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, including quarterly international trips.
  • Professional office etiquette.
  • Physical ability to sit, squat, walk, reach at arm’s length, reach overhead, lift 50–100 pounds, and read.
