Job summary

KNAPP North America seeks a software QA/test engineer to validate warehouse automation software. You will review specs, design and execute test cases, and coordinate with SW commissioning and development teams.

The role involves testing in a mixed Linux/Windows environment, scripting, and cross-product validation. You will train customers, test simulators, and support software deployments at customer sites in the US.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of C++ or Java development.
  • SQL and PL-SQL experience is required.
  • Experience with Linux in a mixed Linux/Windows environment.
  • Scripting in Bash, Perl, or Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review function sheets for software products.
  • Create and execute test cases for new developments.
  • Lead project meetings with SW Commissioning and Development.
  • Integrate test cases into standard test sets for software products.
  • Prepare and test software in office or at customer sites (Kennesaw/Atlanta, GA).
  • Train and support customers on software and logistics issues.
  • Configure simulators and cross-product tests.
  • Document tests in a bug-tracking system.

What You Get To Do
Test of products/projects
  • Review function sheets
  • Create test cases for new developments and execute these test cases
  • Organize and lead a project meeting with SW Commissioning and Development
  • Integrate selected test cases into a standard set of test cases for the respective Software product
  • Organize, prepare, and test software in the office (Kennesaw/Atlanta, GA) and/or at customer sites
  • Train and support customers on issues related to our software and logistics
  • Configure simulator
Cross-Product Tests
  • Lead and perform cross-product tests
Reporting
  • Document performed tests via test documentation system
  • Create anomaly reports in bug tracking system
Tasks for support of Software Commissioning
  • Provide technical support including support on technical and process-oriented questions
  • Create, maintain, and adapt auto-tests
  • Responsible for the roll-out of auto-tests of products to projects
  • Maintain and support simulations and sandboxes and test VMs
  • Develop and support internal software projects
  • Enhance and extend test coverage of functions of a product
  • Create test projects and test plans based on standard test cases
  • Support the test lead on WMS projects
  • Prepare and sometimes, lead customer and employee training
  • Continuously update and share technical notes (KDB)
What You Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Strong knowledge of C++ or Java development
  • SQL and PL-SQL experience is required
  • Experience with Linux o Work in a mixed Linux and Windows environment
  • Knowledge of one of the following scripting languages is a plus:
    • Bash, Perl, or Python
  • Solid understanding of network infrastructures
  • Knowledge and understanding of logistical workflows and processes
  • Knowledge of current software development technologies and design patterns
  • Capability to create workflows and processes in written form and sequence diagrams, and to develop and implement accordingly
  • Strong knowledge in one of the following fields: o Database development; process development, UI/HMI development
  • Knowledge of Knapp software implementation process
Working Conditions and Environment
  • Overtime as required by work
  • Up to 30% travel, domestic and international
  • Ability to travel by air both domestically (US) and internationally (primarily, Austria and other parts of Europe, as well as Canada)
  • Professional office etiquette is required at all times
  • Physical requirements may include sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, climbing a ladder, speaking, visual acuity, finger dexterity, listening, reaching at arm’s length, and lifting up to 50 pounds
