Location: Remote Candidates in these areas ONLY should apply; within Texas (Houston, DFW, San Antonio, Austin, El Paso, Rio Grande Valley) or Florida (Tampa/St. Pete, Fort Myers, Treasure Coast, Miami area, Orlando)

Employment Type: Freelance,12-month contract (potential for extension or conversion to FTE)

Compensation: $30–$35/hr

Wellmed Medical is a leader in managed healthcare services, dedicated to providing high-quality care and support to patients and healthcare partners. We are reimagining how we support our broker network and are seeking a skilled Broker Escalation Support professional to join our team on a freelance basis.

Position Overview

As a Broker Escalation Support specialist, you will serve as the first point of contact for complex broker support needs in the South Region (Texas and Florida). You will troubleshoot escalated issues related to patient-provider mapping, authorizations, and network concerns—ensuring timely resolution and communication with all stakeholders. This role is critical in freeing up capacity for our Growth and Retention teams, especially during peak periods such as AEP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve broker escalations for Texas and Florida regions by collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Open, document, track, and close escalation tickets using Smartsheet and Salesforce.
  • Troubleshoot issues involving clinic operations leadership, provider network/credentialing teams, and other internal partners.
  • Communicate effectively with brokers/agents to ensure full resolution of their concerns.
  • Support ongoing projects related to provider data management—collecting bios/photos, maintaining provider information for multiple platforms (Sunfire, Capturely, Broker Information Center), and ensuring data accuracy for marketing/growth tools.
  • Prepare regular updates for key stakeholders including Growth Marketing leaders.
  • Proactively “connect the dots” when faced with ambiguous information to drive issue resolution.
  • Take on additional projects as assigned.

Desired Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in project management or broker/agent support within managed care or healthcare services.
  • Strong organizational skills with sharp attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities; able to build trust across diverse teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and independently troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Smartsheet); Salesforce experience highly desirable.
  • Understanding of managed care operations and the broker/agent landscape is highly preferred.
  • Located in or near one of the specified Texas or Florida regions; occasional local travel may be required for events or meetings.
