Job summary

1898 & Co., a part of Burns & McDonnell, is seeking a Project Manager focused in Distribution Planning to lead multidisciplinary teams delivering high-quality planning and consulting projects for North American utilities and developers.

You will oversee scope, schedule, budget, and client communications, applying deep engineering knowledge in load flow, reliability, and hosting capacity studies, while driving innovative solutions and client relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in engineering, business, computer science or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of related professional experience.
• Experience leading technical consulting engagements in power systems and distribution planning.
• Strong knowledge of project management techniques and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong organizational abilities.
• Experience with grid modernization, DER integration, and distribution planning tools.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of distribution planning projects, including scope, schedule, budget, quality, and client communications.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams to perform load flow, reliability, system impact, and hosting capacity studies for electric distribution systems.
• Oversee evaluations of operational technologies and grid device integration (OMS/DMS) to meet client needs.
• Guide analyses of non-wires alternatives and DER impacts in decision-making.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and client expectations.
