Responsibilities

  • Manage federal construction projects from preconstruction and startup through completion and closeout.
  • Review contracts, drawings, specifications and project requirements.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets and cost controls.
  • Manage subcontractors, vendors and procurement activities.
  • Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders and other project documentation.
  • Review subcontractor scopes, proposals, pricing and change requests.
  • Monitor project costs, commitments, billings and overall financial performance.
  • Coordinate with field Superintendents, Quality Control Managers and Site Safety personnel.
  • Participate in project meetings with clients, subcontractors and government representatives.
  • Identify project risks and resolve issues that could affect schedule, cost or performance.
  • Assist with estimating, bid review and preconstruction activities as needed.
  • Maintain complete project records and required government documentation.
  • Oversee project closeout, punch-list completion, warranties and turnover documentation.
  • Travel periodically to project sites to review progress, attend meetings and support field operations

Project Manager - Federal Construction
Brightwood, VA | Full Time | On-Site with Occasional Project Travel

Butterfly Staffing is recruiting for an experienced Project Manager for a growing federal construction contractor based in Brightwood, Virginia.

This position will be primarily office-based and will manage multiple government construction projects from startup through closeout. The Project Manager will work closely with Superintendents, Quality Control Managers, Safety personnel, subcontractors, vendors and government representatives to keep projects on schedule, within budget and in compliance with contract requirements.

Periodic travel to active project sites will be required.

Qualifications
  • Experience managing commercial or federal construction projects
  • Federal construction experience with agencies such as VA, USACE, NAVFAC or other government clients strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, drawings, specifications and scopes of work
  • Experience managing subcontractors, schedules, budgets and change orders
  • Knowledge of RFIs, submittals, pay applications and project closeout procedures
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Experience with construction management software and scheduling tools preferred
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel periodically to project sites
Ideal Background

The ideal candidate will have experience managing federal or government construction projects and be comfortable working across both office and field operations. This person should be able to take ownership of projects, communicate effectively with field teams and subcontractors, manage documentation and project controls, and step in where needed to keep work moving. Experience with a smaller general contractor, federal contractor, or design-build environment is strongly preferred.
