Job summary

Innovative Construction Solutions (ICS) is seeking a seasoned Project Manager to plan, execute, and close complex environmental construction projects. You will manage scope, schedule, and budget, coordinate subcontractors, and serve as the main client liaison to ensure projects meet safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

You will lead a small, tight-knit team, monitor cost reporting and change orders, and drive continuous improvement through post-project reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Geology or related field desirable.
• Minimum five (5) years of direct experience in project management.

Responsibilities

Job description

Founded in 1999, Innovative Construction Solutions (ICS) is a California-based environmental construction company with 170+ employees across California and Washington. We specialize in environmental remediation, water/wastewater treatment systems, hazardous waste management, and federal contracting. As a Federal Small Business (NAICS 562910) with $175-million bonding capacity and Class A general engineering contractor status, ICS delivers projects that protect, remediate, and restore our environment while addressing critical infrastructure challenges.

The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget, with a strong emphasis on building and maintaining excellent client relationships. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives, manage the project budget closely from initial estimate through closeout, and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle, working within a small, tight-knit team where close collaboration and personal accountability are essential. A Project Manager is the principal project administrator and communications link between ICS and:

• The Client
• Sub-contractors,
• Local, State, and Federal Regulatory agencies,
• Public Authorities

Duties/Responsibilities:

The Project Manager shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

• Review project scope, budget, and best practices and tools for project execution and management. Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path. Lead project-specific team toward successful project completion.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the client, building trust through responsive, transparent communication and proactively managing expectations throughout the project. Ensure proper distribution and central filing of project information to all team members and sub-consultants.
• Own project-specific cost tracking and budget administration, including forecasting, monthly cost reporting, and variance analysis, and proactively notify clients of changes in project scope, including change order estimate preparation for out-of-scope work elements and written change order requests.
• Review and approve all subcontractor monthly requisitions for payment, including requisitions for final payment.
• Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise project team members and contractors within a small, closely-knit project team, able to influence and empower a team to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
• Manage Superintendents and Foreman to ensure the Field Team knows their roles and responsibilities and holds them accountable for ownership of their work.
• Foster, build, and develop strong client relationships and business relationships vital to the success of the project.
• Conduct project postmortems with recommendation reports to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
• All other duties as assigned by Management.

• Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
• Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
• Skilled in prioritizing and executing tasks in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Familiarity with project management and estimating software (e.g., Viewpoint Vista, B2W, Heavy Job/Bid) is beneficial but not required.
• Knowledge of costing and earned revenue concepts, such as the Cost-to-Cost method of Earned Revenue Recognition for long-­term construction contracts, % Complete, and AIA Progress Billings, is beneficial but not obligatory.
• Technically competent with various software programs, such as Excel and Word.

Education/Training

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Geology or related field desirable.
• Minimum five (5) years of direct work experience in project management capacity.
• 40-Hr HAZWOPER or 8-Hr HAZWOPER Refresher is desirable, or training will be provided.
• Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation
