Patriot Engineering and Environmental is seeking a Project Manager, Construction Materials Engineering in Indianapolis, IN. Headquartered in Indianapolis, IN, Patriot Engineering and Environmental is an employee owned, diverse engineering firm with a multi-state locations and presence providing geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing services and consultation to commercial, industrial and governmental clients. This position will be based out of our Indianapolis operations.
The successful candidate will utilize critical thinking and judgment skills to ensure the highest quality of services and deliverables to clients and development and mentoring of staff. This role also requires strong communication and organizational skills along with a working knowledge of the services we provide. We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, and personable self-starter with an eye for detail, a willingness to learn, and a desire to be part of a growing and high performing team.
Essential Functions
Project Manager Duties
- Set up projects, write proposals and prepare engineering reports for our clients.
- Partner with other departments and/or offices to make sure resources are secured for each project.
- Manage budgets, review invoices and prepare change orders when needed.
- Coordinate with the administration department regarding invoices and collections.
- Be able to write general and specific material(s) recommendations.
- Trouble shoot testing equipment and material(s) problems.
- Cover the field as required.
- Lead safety efforts for the team.
- Help mentor and train field staff regarding our field services.
- Perform various tasks as assigned.
- Represent Patriot, its core values, services and staff with the highest level of ethics and integrity.
- Leadership and Accountability of projects, deliverables and team.
- Add value to clients by providing dual-benefit solutions, linking to other business drivers, bringing efficiencies to project and suggesting ways to achieve regulatory compliance/best practice.
- Responsible for sustaining and improving relationships with clients, including the expectation to cross-market or refer other Patriot services – providing support in securing new clients and opportunities for the growth of the firm.
- Manage and participate in industry events, trade shows and business development functions to represent Patriot.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required. Minimum 5 years’ field and/or laboratory experience without a degree. P.E. is a plus.
- Working understanding of the material testing industry regarding geotechnical engineering, soils, concrete, masonry, structural steel, welding, fireproofing, asphalt inspection, and floor flatness testing.
- General understanding of ASTM, ACI, and INDOT standards as it relates to construction materials testing.
- Proficient with project plans, specs and shop drawing review.
- Working knowledge of computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite is expected.
- Demonstrated ability to listen, learn and communicate at highest levels.
- Excellent time management skills - understanding and setting priorities to realize value added and focused activities and deliverables.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Demonstrated success in planning and realizing stated project plans/goals.
- Demonstrated professionalism, energy and enthusiasm as a company representative.
