Job summary

Henderson Scott US seeks a seasoned Project Manager to oversee commercial and public construction projects in the Houston area, ranging from $1M to $100M+. You will lead planning, execution, and delivery, managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and contracts from preconstruction to closeout.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years of PM experience in commercial construction, including ground-up or renovations, and a strong grasp of cost controls, procurement, and stakeholder communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in commercial construction project management.
• Proven experience managing ground-up and/or renovation projects.
• Experience with public-sector, aviation, municipal, healthcare, higher education, K-12, or other complex commercial projects is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, scheduling, cost controls, and contract administration.
• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead all phases of project management from preconstruction and procurement through project completion and turnover.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.
• Coordinate with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Consultants, and field teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage subcontractor buyout, contract administration, and change order negotiations.
• Review drawings, specifications, and project documents to identify risks and opportunities.
• Partner closely with Superintendents to ensure field operations align with project goals and schedules.
• Monitor project costs, productivity, and profitability while proactively addressing potential issues.
• Lead OAC meetings, subcontractor meetings, and internal project team coordination efforts.
• Maintain exceptional client relationships and provide regular project updates to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with company safety standards, quality control measures, and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee project closeout activities, including punch lists, commissioning, owner training, and final documentation.

The Opportunity

What They're Looking For

• Strong understanding of project budgeting, scheduling, cost controls, and contract administration
• Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders while maintaining project schedules and financial objectives
• Strong knowledge of subcontractor management, procurement, and change management processes
• Excellent communication, leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred
• Experience managing projects in occupied, phased, or operational environments is highly desirable
