Job summary

MPI, a leading Houston-based contractor, seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee healthcare, institutional, renovation, and JOC projects from preconstruction through closeout. You will manage multiple fast-paced projects, work directly with clients, and drive projects to successful completion.

The Successful Applicant will have 5+ years of PM experience with a commercial GC, MD Anderson or JOC experience, a Bachelor's in Construction Management or related field, strong estimating skills,

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management in a commercial general contractor.
  • MD Anderson project experience OR Job Order Contracting (JOC) experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Estimating experience including budgeting, bidding, and change orders.
  • Experience delivering healthcare, institutional, government, or public-sector projects.
  • Strong leadership and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Develop and maintain schedules, budgets, and forecasts.
  • Review drawings for risks and perform quantity takeoffs.
  • Lead subcontractor procurement and buyout activities.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, consultants, and superintendents.
  • Monitor project costs and ensure financial objectives are achieved.
  • Negotiate contracts, change orders, and subcontract agreements.
  • Facilitate project meetings and provide regular client communication.
  • Ensure quality control and safety standards are maintained.
  • Prepare and present project reports to company leadership.

Job Description

The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of construction projects from preconstruction and estimating support through project completion. The successful candidate will have experience managing healthcare, institutional, renovation, or public-sector projects and possess a strong understanding of budgeting, estimating, procurement, scheduling, and client management. This individual will be responsible for maintaining project profitability, managing subcontractor relationships, ensuring client satisfaction, and leading project teams to successful outcomes.

  • Manage projects from preconstruction through closeout

  • Review drawings and specifications and identify potential risks
  • Perform estimating, quantity takeoffs, pricing reviews, and change order management
  • Lead subcontractor procurement and buyout activities

The Successful Applicant
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience with a commercial general contractor
  • MD Anderson project experience OR Job Order Contracting (JOC) experience required
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Demonstrated estimating experience, including conceptual estimating, budgeting, bidding, and change orders
  • Experience delivering healthcare, institutional, government, or public-sector projects
  • Strong understanding of renovation and occupied-space construction
  • Proficiency with project management and estimating software
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and client-facing skills
