Trueline's client, a growing family-owned commercial specialty contractor with a strong reputation among leading General Contractors, is seeking a Project Manager - Commercial Construction to launch and grow its Sacramento presence. This is a highly autonomous role for an experienced commercial construction PM who can immediately take ownership of a major awarded project, manage projects from award through closeout, and help build long-term relationships throughout the Sacramento market.
What You'll Do as the Project Manager - Commercial Construction:
- Take immediate ownership of a major commercial project in downtown Sacramento
- Manage commercial construction projects from award through final completion
- Serve as the primary point of contact for General Contractors, customers, vendors, and field teams
- Review drawings, specifications, scope documents, and project requirements
- Manage project schedules, budgets, documentation, and profitability
- Coordinate materials, installers, field activities, and subcontractor needs
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change-related documentation, and closeout requirements
- Visit local Sacramento-area jobsites and monitor project progress
- Identify project risks early and work proactively toward solutions
- Maintain consistent communication with customers throughout the project lifecycle
- Help develop and strengthen relationships with Sacramento-area General Contractors
- Support estimating and bidding for new local opportunities
- Learn the company's estimating process with support from the existing preconstruction team
- Manage multiple active projects while maintaining responsiveness and accountability
- Operate independently as the company's first Sacramento-based employee
- Help establish systems, relationships, and processes that support future Sacramento growth
- Potentially help recruit and develop additional local team members as the market expands
Must-Haves as the Project Manager - Commercial Construction:
- Approximately 3-5 or more years of commercial construction Project Management experience
- Real project execution and jobsite experience
- Ability to independently manage commercial projects
- Experience working directly with General Contractors, clients, vendors, and field teams
- Strong ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and project scope
- Experience managing schedules, budgets, documentation, and project closeout
- Strong organization and time‑management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
- Excellent communication and responsiveness
- Strong accountability and ownership mindset
- High level of integrity and customer‑service orientation
- Self‑starter capable of operating independently without a local support team
- Valid California driver's license
- Ability to work onsite in downtown Sacramento and travel locally to jobsites
- Strong knowledge of the Sacramento commercial construction market preferred

- Specialty subcontractor Project Management experience
- Commercial GC Project Management or Assistant Project Management experience
- Experience with Division 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, or related specialty trades

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field

Our Client Offers:
- Base salary targeted at approximately $110,000-$130,000
- Flexibility up to approximately $135,000 for the right candidate
- Annual bonus potential of approximately $10,000-$15,000 depending on level and performance
