Director, Talent Acquisition & Talent Management

We’re looking for a driven and detail-oriented Project Manager to help lead impactful clean energy programs in distributed energy resources (DER)--including solar, battery storage, and more specifically building decarbonization/electrification. You’ll partner with our Senior Project Manager and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative projects that shape a more sustainable energy future. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Project and Financial Management

  • Lead the management of project budgets, including forecasting, tracking expenditures, and monitoring subcontractor cash flow to maintain overall program financial health.
  • Track and manage accountable hours for internal program staff, ensuring alignment between time allocation, deliverables, and budget expectations.
  • Identify and address budget variances or utilization concerns in collaboration with matrixed internal teams, and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Anticipate potential cost overruns and proactively develop mitigation strategies to stay within budgetary limits.
  • Ensure subcontractor activities and expenditures remain within approved budget allocations and funding parameters.
  • Partner with the accounting team to implement and uphold strong financial controls and reporting systems, ensuring transparency and compliance.
  • Prepare and deliver timely, accurate budget reports to program leadership and the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Manage the advanced payments request process and ensure accurate reconciliation of funds in partnership with finance stakeholders.

Cross-Functional and Stakeholder Coordination

  • Facilitate strong communication and collaboration across project teams, subcontractors, and key stakeholders to drive alignment and timely execution.
  • Coordinate activities across internal matrixed teams to ensure cohesive project delivery throughout all phases of the program lifecycle.
  • Provide critical review and quality assurance on work products to maintain high standards and consistency across program outputs.

Risk and Compliance Oversight

  • Proactively identify program risks and implementation challenges, escalate concerns when necessary, and lead the execution of corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and funding guidelines applicable to each program under management.

Strategic Planning and Program Development

  • Lead the development and ongoing refinement of long-term program strategies by creating implementation plans, monitoring performance, and adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives by developing program budgets and implementation strategies, preparing responses to solicitations, and identifying and cultivating project partners.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the broader success of the program and organization.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Required

Project Leadership and Execution

  • Demonstrated expertise in project and program management, including mastery of the scope/schedule/budget "triple constraint."
  • Proven experience managing complex projects within matrixed organizations, including oversight of team utilization and accountable hours to ensure alignment with project budgets and deliverables.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Analytical and Strategic Thinking

  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to apply sound judgment in addressing complex issues.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach to program execution and continuous improvement.
  • Strong independent research skills and familiarity with leveraging regulatory, technical, and industry-specific resources.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information into clear, concise messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in a client-facing or customer service role, with the ability to build strong working relationships across internal departments, external subcontractors, and key stakeholders.

Sector and Regulatory Knowledge

  • Direct experience working with state and federal government funding agencies, such as the California Energy Commission and U.S. Department of Energy.
  • Familiarity with government contracting processes and regulatory frameworks applicable to clean energy or public sector programs.

Technical Proficiency

  • Proficiency in project management tools such as Asana, Teamwork, and ProjectManager.com, or comparable platforms.
  • Advanced skills in standard office software packages, including Microsoft Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software tools as needed.

Preferred

Industry and Program Expertise

  • 3–5 years of experience in the distributed energy resources, sustainability, or building electrification sectors, with a strong understanding of clean energy program implementation.
  • Experience with direct install programs, including familiarity with operational models, compliance protocols, and policy frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) HOME Energy Rebate Program, including applicable guidelines and compliance requirements.

Government Contracting and Grant Management

  • Working knowledge of administering government contracts and managing grant agreements, including experience with public sector funding processes and reporting requirements.

Professional Certifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management credential.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement qualification.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience required

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
