Project Manager – Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency

I’m working with a fully integrated renewable energy firm that specializes in onsite energy solutions for commercial and industrial buildings. Their mission is to transform how the built environment leverages clean power by delivering best-in-class infrastructure and optimizing building performance.

About the Role

My client is looking to hire a driven and detail-oriented Project Manager to oversee the delivery of both energy efficiency upgrades and solar PV installations across their expanding real estate portfolio. This role is essential to ensuring technical alignment, stakeholder coordination, and the achievement of meaningful sustainability outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in project management combined with hands-on experience in solar PV systems, electrical infrastructure, and energy efficiency retrofits. They’ll be responsible for managing projects from planning through execution—including budgets, timelines, permitting, contractor oversight, and QA/QC—within the regulatory framework of the renewable energy sector.

This is a high-impact role, ideal for someone passionate about decarbonization, operational excellence, and scaling clean energy solutions across the built environment.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Execution:

Develop and manage project plans for solar and energy efficiency scopes, including budgets, schedules, and resource planning to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery.

Technical Oversight:

Review and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, submittals, and specifications. Ensure systems are integrated to meet performance objectives.

Stakeholder Coordination:

Collaborate with internal engineering, procurement, and construction teams as well as external stakeholders such as utilities, subcontractors, and property teams.

Source, vet, and oversee subcontractors. Manage bids, negotiate terms, and ensure delivery to expected standards and timelines.

Manage all permitting and utility interconnection processes to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.

Identify risks and develop mitigation plans. Handle change orders and maintain accurate project documentation.

Lead quality control and commissioning processes across solar and energy efficiency installations. Ensure all systems meet required functionality and installation standards.

Measurement & Verification (M&V):

Oversee M&V processes as needed, working with metering and monitoring tools to validate savings and performance.

Compliance & Safety:

Ensure all projects adhere to NEC, ASHRAE, OSHA, and other applicable safety and building codes. Lead safety meetings and enforce protocols.

Reporting & Documentation:

Maintain detailed records of project progress, budgets, and closeout documentation. Provide regular executive summaries and performance reviews.

Candidate Profile

Required:

  • 4–6 years of project management experience
  • 5+ years managing solar or electrical infrastructure projects
  • Strong technical understanding of solar PV and electrical systems
  • Proven project management capabilities (planning, budgeting, and team coordination)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Familiarity with NEC, OSHA, and relevant building regulations

Preferred:

  • PMP certification
  • Experience using MS Project, Primavera P6, Salesforce, or other PM tools
  • Background in energy efficiency programs and renewable technologies
