Job summary

NextgenIT in Springfield (VA) seeks an IT project manager to oversee end-to-end delivery of digital initiatives supporting energy operations and modernization efforts, aligned with the AltaGas Project Delivery Methodology.

You will lead full lifecycle activities, define scope and milestones, develop plans, manage budgets, and coordinate across IT teams, vendors, and business units using MS Project Online, Azure DevOps, Jira, and SharePoint.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IT/digital PM experience delivering complex multi-workstream projects.
• Experience coordinating across matrixed units, vendors, and third-party service providers.
• Strong communication and ability to present to executives and facilitate large or diverse groups.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project Online, Azure DevOps, Jira, SharePoint, and advanced Excel/PowerPoint/Visio.

Responsible for managing end-to-end delivery of digital initiatives supporting Energy operations and modernization efforts. This includes planning, execution, governance, vendor management, stakeholder alignments, change control, and delivery of solutions aligned with the AltaGas Project Delivery Methodology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead full project lifecycle activities—from initiation through implementation and post-deployment analysis.
• Define project scope, goals, success metrics, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables in alignment with business sponsors and stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, resources plans, RAID logs, and communication materials.
• Manage project execution using Microsoft Project Online and/or associated governance tools.
• Coordinate work across multiple business functions, IT teams, vendors, and third-party service providers.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements

• At least 5 years of IT or digital project management experience delivering complex, multi-workstream projects.
• Proven experience working across matrixed business units, multiple vendors, and third-party service providers.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, dependencies, risks, and deadlines.
• Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting to executives and facilitating large or diverse groups.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, OnePlan, Azure DevOps, Jira, SharePoint, and advanced Excel/PowerPoint/Visio.

Preferred

• Professional certifications: PMP, PMI-ACP, CMMI, or equivalent.
• Experience in retail energy, utilities, regulated industries, or enterprise transformation programs. General understanding of GAAP O&M and Capital accounting practices.
• Experience managing modernization initiatives involving business process redesign, system integration, vendor delivery, and organizational readiness.
