Job summary

Eastern Kentucky University is seeking a Project Manager for Campus Operations on the Richmond Campus. The role oversees project administration for capital projects, coordinating with external contractors, design teams, and campus stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-budget completion in line with Capital Construction procedures.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree with at least three years in engineering or construction, strong communication, and knowledge of construction codes.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, implements, and coordinates design and construction activities affecting university facilities and grounds on main campus and extended campuses. (Essential)
  • Coordinates architects/engineers, contractors, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and others for on-time, on-budget completion. (Essential)
  • Represents the University in coordinating capital construction projects and renovations. (Essential)
  • Communicates with all representatives involved in construction projects. (Essential)
  • Schedules and directs pre-construction, post-construction, progress meetings and other project meetings. (Essential)
  • Prepares reports, summaries, memos, and recommendations as needed. (Essential)
  • Performs inspections for code compliance and addresses deviations with contractors. (Essential)
  • Prepares specifications for materials and equipment purchases. (Essential)
  • Organizes, budgets and tracks projects from programming to completion.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Project Manager, Project Administration serves as a University representative for Capital Projects with focus on the MEP and Construction trades, working with external contractors and project groups, construction contacts, and campus constituents. Responsibilities include reviewing design & construction documents, attending design & construction meetings, managing the project schedule and budget by utilizing all available resources and monitoring project progress in the field. This will be done in accordance with. the Capital Construction procedures manual.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required

Experience
  • Three years’ experience in the field of engineering or construction is required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of all phases of construction and project management and be able to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable of applicable construction codes and standards.
  • Must be able to prepare construction plans, specifications, and material take-offs.
