Serves as theUniversity's owner's representative throughout planning, design,and construction, ensuring projects meet contractual requirements,regulatory standards, budgetary goals, and operational needs.Oversees project schedules, resources, contractors, consultants,and construction activities to support successful project delivery.Analyzes technical and operational issues, developsrecommendations, and resolves complex problems using professionaljudgment and expertise. Collaborates with campus stakeholders andexternal partners to ensure high-quality project outcomes thatsupport the University's mission.

Primary Responsibilities
Architectural, Engineering, and Project Management Services -20%
  • Provides professional architectural, engineering, and projectmanagement services for University design and construction projectsof varying size, complexity, and scope.
  • Reviews and analyzes construction plans, specifications,equipment selections, and other technical documentation to verifyalignment with project requirements.
  • Applies professional knowledge, technical expertise,experience, and precedent to evaluate potential solutions andprovide informed recommendations.
  • Ensures project designs and construction activities comply withapplicable industry standards, building codes, engineeringpractices, University requirements, and facility objectives.
  • Performs complex assignments and analyses that influence thequality, effectiveness, and outcomes of the Engineering,Construction, and Design function.
Owner's Representative and Construction Administration -20%
  • Serves as the University's owner's representative for assignedconstruction projects, ensuring the University's interests,operational needs, and facility objectives are appropriatelyrepresented.
  • Interprets, administers, and monitors compliance withconstruction contracts during the construction phase.
  • Provides construction management oversight to promote ahigh-quality finished product while minimizing disruption to campusoperations and activities.
  • Monitors contractor and consultant performance and addressesproject concerns, discrepancies, and contractual requirements.
  • Exercises professional judgment in identifying gaps, evaluatinginformation from multiple sources, and recommending appropriatecorrective actions or solutions.
Project Schedule, Resources, and Delivery - 20%
  • Manages construction project schedules and coordinatesactivities to support timely and efficient project completion.
  • Monitors contractor and consultant staffing and resourcerequirements to verify that appropriate resources are available tomeet project needs.
  • Tracks and expedites the fabrication and delivery of materialsand equipment to reduce delays and maintain project schedules.
  • Identifies schedule, resource, and delivery risks and workswith project stakeholders to develop practical mitigationstrategies.
  • Coordinates project activities and priorities across internalteams, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Technical Analysis and Problem Resolution - 20%
  • Analyzes routine through complex technical and operationalissues and develops solutions or recommendations based onprofessional experience, sound judgment, and applicableprecedent.
  • Approaches complex problems from multiple perspectives andidentifies opportunities to improve existing processes, designs, orsolutions.
  • Reviews information from multiple sources, identifies gaps orinconsistencies, and determines appropriate next steps.
  • Provides technical perspectives and recommendations thatinfluence project decisions and University outcomes.
  • Promotes efficient workflows, productivity, and consistentquality within the project team and across related functionalareas.
Communication, Collaboration, and Stakeholder Coordination -20%
  • Communicates complex, technical, difficult, or sensitiveinformation in a manner appropriate to the audience and verifiesunderstanding.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work is performed in both office and construction site environmentswith frequent interaction with contractors, consultants,architects, engineers, University personnel, and otherstakeholders. The position requires regular travel throughoutcampus, including visits to active construction sites, mechanicalspaces, and other University facilities. Responsibilities includeprolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and reviewingtechnical documents, plans, and specifications. The role requiresthe ability to navigate construction environments and occasionallylift or move project-related materials and equipment. The positioninvolves sustained analytical thinking, problem-solving,decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple complexprojects and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility forfull-time staff. Provides functional leadership and projectoversight for architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, andother project stakeholders involved in assigned construction andfacility improvement projects. Coordinates and monitors the work ofexternal vendors and project teams to ensure compliance withproject requirements, schedules, quality standards, and contractualobligations. May provide guidance, technical expertise, andmentoring to departmental staff and project participants asneeded.

Shift

40 hours/week. Monday thru Friday (additional time may be requireddue to Capital Project needs)

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education andexperience and at least 6 years of experience from which comparableknowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Unity Construct (previously named eBuilder)

Project Manager/ Construction Project Manager experience in aHigher Education environment

Anticipated Hiring Range

$70,512 - $87,427
