Job summary

The Theater Outsource is assisting a fast-growing Chicago-area commercial construction company to hire a Construction Project Manager to lead ground-up and major projects in the Chicago market.

This hands-on role owns project planning, budget, schedule, subcontractor coordination, client communication, change orders, and project closeout from groundbreaking through final walkthrough.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction project management experience with a general contractor.
• Ground-up commercial construction experience (Multi-Family, Retail, Automotive, Aviation, Hospitality) as relevant.

Responsibilities

• Manage 2–4 concurrent projects valued at $20–35M+ annually.
• Own full project financials and profitability.
• Serve as primary orchestrator across client, architect, superintendent, and project engineer.
• Manage change orders, purchase orders, and invoices.
• Represent the company as the client’s primary contact.
• Partner with the superintendent to maintain a weekly master schedule.
• Mentor Project Engineers and Assistant PMs.

Job Description

A fast-growing, nationwide commercial construction company is seeking a Construction Project Manager to lead ground-up and major commercial construction projects in the Chicago market.

This is a hands-on construction-management role owning project planning, budget, schedule, subcontractor coordination, client communication, change orders, and successful closeout — from groundbreaking through final walkthrough.

What you’ll do

• Manage 2–4 concurrent projects valued at $20–35M+ annually
• Own full project financials and job profitability
• Serve as the primary orchestrator across client, architect, superintendent, and project engineer
• Manage and communicate change orders, purchase orders, and invoices
• Represent the company as the client's primary point of contact
• Partner with the superintendent to build and maintain a weekly-updated master schedule
• Mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers

What you’ll bring

• 10+ years of construction project management experience with a general contractor
• Proven ground-up commercial construction experience — Multi-Family, Retail, Automotive, Aviation, or Hospitality projects all relevant
• Proficiency in Procore, MS Project or Primavera P6, and MS Office
• Strong subcontractor buyout, OAC meeting, and punch-list closeout experience
• Ability to travel to and regularly walk active jobsites in varying outdoor conditions
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
• Valid driver's license
