Job summary

Verto People is seeking a Project Manager - Industrial Refrigeration in Houston, TX to lead complex NH3 refrigeration projects from award through commissioning. The role requires managing technical, commercial and field execution aspects while communicating with clients and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in ammonia refrigeration, sharp reading of piping diagrams and PSM experience, and is ready to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in the ammonia refrigeration industry.
• Ability to read and understand piping diagrams, block flow diagrams, specifications and refrigeration drawings.
• Experience with PSM for end-user processing facilities using NH3 as a refrigerant.

Responsibilities

• Lead industrial refrigeration projects from award through kick-off, execution, closeout and commissioning support.
• Manage technical, commercial, contractual, fabrication and field construction requirements.
• Act as the main customer point of contact, building relationships and communicating project needs internally.
• Manage multiple projects concurrently, including progress reporting, forecasting and action planning.
• Oversee project schedules, cost control, material requisition, expediting, delivery, shipping and quality.
• Participate in P&ID reviews, HAZOP reviews, design reviews and technical project execution discussions.
• Resolve schedule, design, commissioning and warranty issues across customized refrigeration projects.
• Support negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, consultants and other project partners.
• Maintain project risk plans and ensure quality standards are met in line with health, safety, security and environmental codes.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on occasion.

A Project Manager - Industrial Refrigeration is required to lead complex industrial refrigeration projects from award through design, procurement, fabrication, field execution and commissioning support.

This role is suited to a Mechanical Project Manager, Industrial Refrigeration Project Engineer, Ammonia Refrigeration Project Lead or similar project management professional with strong ammonia refrigeration experience, customer-facing confidence and the technical ability to manage project scope, schedules, cost control, quality and change management across highly customized NH3 refrigeration projects.

The Project Manager - Industrial Refrigeration / Mechanical Project Manager / Industrial Refrigeration Project Engineer Role:

• Experience as a Project Manager - Industrial Refrigeration, Mechanical Project Manager, Industrial Refrigeration Project Engineer, Ammonia Refrigeration Project Lead, Refrigeration Construction Manager or similar industrial refrigeration project role.
• 5+ years of experience in the ammonia refrigeration industry.
• Ability to read and understand piping diagrams, block flow diagrams, specifications and refrigeration drawings.
• Experience with PSM for end-user processing facilities using NH3 as a refrigerant.
• Knowledge of NH3 ammonia systems, including pipe and fittings installation using recognized industry practices.
• Familiarity with high-side, low-side, booster discharge, discharge, economizing, equalizing, high-pressure liquid, pumped liquid and condenser drain systems.
• Familiarity with industrial refrigeration equipment, including screw compressors, airside equipment, vessels, heat exchangers and ice makers.
• Knowledge of NH3 control and isolation valves, NH3 detection systems, insulation practices and industrial piping support systems.
• Familiarity with IIAR standards and bulletins.
• Experience supporting job-site safety, including toolbox meetings, PPE compliance and site safety inspections.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on occasion.
