Job summary

GFL Industries is seeking a Project Manager to support operations with project preparation, budgeting, safety procedures, and training. The PM will coordinate with operations and account teams, manage field activities, and contribute to P&L discussions.

The role requires strong leadership, environmental industry knowledge, and the ability to coordinate complex projects with multiple stakeholders. Willingness to work outside regular hours and travel as needed is expected.

Qualifications

  • Experience in environmental industry.
  • Experience with heavy equipment and industrial services.
  • Project management and leadership training.
  • Familiarity with technical project planning.
  • Strong leadership with ability to motivate team members.
  • University degree in sciences or business is an asset.
  • Availability outside regular hours to coordinate project work and provide guidance when required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to specialized services team.
  • Collaborate with business development and account managers to secure project work while maintaining high customer service.
  • Research and develop procedures to enhance safety for operations teams.
  • Assist districts with pre-planning, scheduling, asset securing, rentals, subcontractors, tracking, and closure.
  • Participate in regular P&L reviews to understand financials and support operations strategies.
  • Prepare price estimates/quotations for specialized services, including background research and technical writing.
  • Generate technical closure reports for customers and regulatory bodies.
  • Engage in field work to support operations as needed.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Work with District Manager to review growth opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

Job description

The Project Manager (PM) primary function will be to support operations managers with project preparation, research, technical planning, development of safe work procedures, developing project budgets, and communications toward managing expenses and overall project objectives. The PM will also provide training and guidance as required to operations personnel to ensure the highest level of safety is displayed in the field. In addition, the PM will support emergency response teams often filling the role of homebase coordinator.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide technical support to specialized services team.

  • Complete technical closure reports and provide to customers and/or regulatory organizations.
  • Participate in field work from time to time to support operations.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Work with District Manager to review growth opportunities.
  • Other duties as directed or required.
Requirements:
  • Experience and strong knowledge in environmental industry.
  • Experience and strong knowledge of heavy equipment and overall industrial services.
  • Project management and leadership training.
  • Familiarity technical project planning.
  • Strong leadership with ability to motivate team members while focusing on the overall success of the group.
  • University diploma/degree in sciences and/or business would be considered an asset.
  • Be available outside of regular business hours from time to time to help coordinate project work and provide technical guidance when required.
