Job summary

GFL - Sewer Technologies Division in the United States is seeking a Project Manager for Liquid Waste Operations to support operations teams with project preparation, research, technical planning, and the development of safe work procedures, budgets, and communications to manage expenses and objectives.

The PM will train and guide operations personnel, occasionally perform field work, review growth opportunities with district leadership, and participate in meetings to ensure safety and client

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to specialized services team.
  • Collaborate with business development to secure project work and maintain customer service.
  • Develop new procedures to enhance safety for operations teams.
  • Assist districts with pre-planning, scheduling, asset securement, rentals, subcontractors, tracking, and closure.
  • Prepare price estimates/quotations for specialized services.
  • Produce technical closure reports for customers/regulators.
  • Participate in field work to support operations.
  • Attend meetings and review growth opportunities with District Manager.
  • Other duties as directed or required.

The Project Manager (PM) primary function will be to support operations managers with project preparation, research, technical planning, development of safe work procedures, developing project budgets, and communications toward managing expenses and overall project objectives. The PM will also provide training and guidance as required to operations personnel to ensure the highest level of safety is displayed in the field. In addition, the PM will support emergency response teams often filling the role of homebase coordinator.

Key Accountabilities
  • Provide technical support to specialized services team.
  • Work with the business development team and account managers to secure project work while ensuring a high level of customer service.
  • Research and development to implement new procedures to support operations teams while striving to continuously increase levels of safety.
  • Assist districts with major project pre-planning, scheduling, asset securement, rentals, sub- contractors, daily tracking, and project closure.
  • Participates in regular P&L reviews to understand financials to support operations managers with business strategies.
  • Complete price estimates/quotations for specialized services scopes of work. Includes background research and technical writing.
  • Complete technical closure reports and provide to customers and/or regulatory organizations.
  • Participate in field work from time to time to support operations.
  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Work with District Manager to review growth opportunities.
  • Other duties as directed or required.
Requirements
  • Experience and strong knowledge in environmental industry.
  • Experience and strong knowledge of heavy equipment and overall industrial services.
  • Project management and leadership training.
  • Familiarity technical project planning.
  • Strong leadership with ability to motivate team members while focusing on the overall success of the group.
  • University diploma/degree in sciences and/or business would be considered an asset.
  • Be available outside of regular business hours from time to time to help coordinate project work and provide technical guidance when required.
