Salary: $115,000–$150,000 annually, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time

About the Opportunity

A small, family-owned electrical engineering firm with a long history in the Denver area and a reputation for quality is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Project Manager. This position offers the opportunity to independently lead projects from concept through construction completion.

Projects span K–12 schools, municipal facilities, recreation centers, laboratories, offices, light industrial facilities, libraries, retail, hospitality, large residential developments, and historic rehabilitation. You’ll enjoy varied work, substantial design autonomy, and the opportunity to grow with the company.

About the Role

This is a hands-on electrical design and project management position. You will develop power and lighting designs, coordinate with architects and other engineering disciplines, and serve as a primary project contact throughout design and construction.

The ideal candidate can take ownership of projects, exercise sound technical judgment, and deliver quality work with minimal oversight. This position does not involve direct staff management.

Most work can be performed remotely, with in-person meetings and site visits in the Denver area approximately twice per week. Candidates should live within practical driving distance of Denver. Colorado Springs candidates may be considered.

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage electrical engineering projects from schematic design through construction administration.

  • Design power distribution and lighting systems and prepare construction drawings and specifications.

  • Coordinate electrical designs with architects, mechanical engineers, and other project partners.

  • Manage project schedules, deliverables, and client communication.

  • Participate in design meetings, site visits, construction observations, and punch walks.

  • Address construction questions and help resolve design and field coordination issues.

  • Maintain accurate, coordinated project documentation and meet applicable codes and project requirements.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.

  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required; licensure in any U.S. state will be considered.

  • Experience designing electrical systems for buildings and managing projects through design and construction.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce designs and manage projects independently.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam.

  • Experience preparing electrical specifications.

  • Strong knowledge of power distribution and lighting systems.

  • Strong communication, organization, and coordination skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with clients and project partners.

  • Availability to attend Denver-area meetings and site visits approximately twice per week.

K–12 experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with municipal, recreation center, commercial, or other relevant building design experience are encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Annual salary of $125,000–$150,000, depending on experience.

  • 100% employer-paid employee health and dental insurance premiums.

  • SIMPLE IRA with company matching up to 3%.

  • Three weeks of paid vacation.

  • All federal holidays off.

  • Annual company closure between Christmas and New Year’s.

  • Remote work with flexible hours.

  • Mentorship and support for professional development.

  • Significant opportunities for growth as the company expands.

Why Join the Team?

You’ll have the freedom to make design decisions, take ownership of your projects, and work directly with company leadership. This small, collaborative team offers exposure to diverse projects and room to shape your professional growth.
