  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Procore, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and project scheduling tools.
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and client relationship skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly throughout Texas.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred, but not required with equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all phases of assigned construction projects from award through final completion.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, Superintendents, and internal leadership.
  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout documentation.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to management and clients.
  • Manage multiple projects at one time while maintaining quality, communication, and accountability.
  • Travel regularly throughout Texas to support active jobsites and client needs.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress, safety, quality, schedule, manpower, and subcontractor performance.
  • Partner closely with Superintendents to resolve field issues quickly and effectively.
  • Support project mobilization, phasing, coordination, inspections, punch list, and closeout efforts.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, client standards, and company expectations.
  • Prepare, manage, and track project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
  • Review subcontractor invoices, owner billings, purchase orders, and project expenses.
  • Identify, price, negotiate, and track change orders.
  • Monitor project financial performance and elevate risks or budget concerns promptly.
  • Assist with monthly project reporting and executive-level updates.
  • Promote a strong safety culture on every project.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and site-specific safety expectations.
  • Participate in safety reviews, incident follow-up, and corrective action planning as needed.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and compliance records.

About The Company

SGTR LLC, a Smith Group of Americas company, is a growing commercial construction firm supporting retail, industrial, warehouse, and renovation projects. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee construction projects for national box-store and retail clients throughout Texas.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will manage multiple retail construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role requires regular travel throughout Texas to visit jobsites, meet with clients, coordinate subcontractors, support field teams, and ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to client standards.

The ideal candidate has 7-10+ years of commercial construction project management experience, preferably with retail renovations, occupied-store remodels, grocery, big box retail, warehouse, or national account programs.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management
  • Oversee all phases of assigned construction projects from award through final completion.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement plans, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, Superintendents, and internal leadership.
  • Review plans, specifications, contracts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout documentation.
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to management and clients.
  • Manage multiple projects at one time while maintaining quality, communication, and accountability.
Client Relations
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned retail and box-store clients.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication and reliable follow-through.
  • Attend client meetings, site walks, turnover meetings, and project review sessions as needed.
  • Ensure client expectations are understood, communicated, and met throughout the project lifecycle.
Site Oversight & Travel
  • Travel regularly throughout Texas to support active jobsites and client needs.

  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • PMP, CCM, or similar construction-related certification is a plus.
