Job summary

Pilgrim is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of retail construction projects across multiple markets. This role coordinates internal stakeholders, landlords, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to company standards.

You will manage budgeting, scheduling, risk assessment, permits, and approvals, review bids, monitor costs, and drive value engineering

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required.
  • 5–8 years of construction project management experience in retail or related sectors.
  • Experience managing multiple projects across geographic regions.
  • Knowledge of permitting, contract administration, and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency with industry PM tools listed above.

  • Review lease exhibits and landlord work obligations for compliance.

  • Lead site visits and contractor performance evaluations.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of retail construction projects across multiple markets. This role is responsible for managing all phases of construction from pre-construction and permitting through project closeout and store opening. The successful candidate will coordinate internal stakeholders, landlords, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and according to company standards

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage project planning activities, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and risk assessment.
  • Coordinate with Real Estate, Design, Operations, and Finance teams during site development activities.
  • Participate in site feasibility reviews and support due diligence activities.
  • Review lease exhibits and landlord work obligations to ensure construction compliance.
  • Coordinate permitting and governmental approvals.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes, ADA requirements, life-safety regulations, and company standards.
  • Track permit status and proactively address approval delays.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project budgets.
  • Review contractor bids and participate in contractor selection.
  • Monitor project costs and forecast final project expenditures.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
  • Approve invoices and ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Manage relationships with general contractors, architects, consultants, and equipment vendors.
  • Lead bid processes and negotiate project costs and change orders.
  • Conduct regular site visits and contractor performance evaluations.
  • Coordinate final inspections, punch lists, and turnover activities.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure projects are delivered ready for store opening.
  • Support grand-opening schedules and operational readiness milestones.
  • Manage multiple concurrent construction projects ranging from new stores and relocations to remodels and special capital projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or other related discipline required
  • 5-8 years of construction project management experience in retail, commercial, restaurant, grocery, or related sectors.
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects across different geographic regions.
  • Knowledge of permitting, contract administration, and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or similar project management tools.
