Project Manager
Steel only counts when it is detailed right, fabricated on time, and set safely. This role owns that path-from contract through closeout-so complex buildings and non-building structures leave the shop and the field without defects or accidents. You are the person who keeps schedule, cost, quality, and the customer in one conversation. When you recognize a need, you fulfill it.
Performance Objectives
- Deliver assigned structural-steel projects on the agreed schedule and within budget, from award through final closeout.
- Turn drawings, specs, and contract documents into a fabrication and erection plan the shop and field can execute without rework.
- Hold margin by tracking cost, quantities, and change orders in real time, and by pricing and documenting scope changes before work proceeds.
- Keep detailing, fabrication, erection, vendors, and the customer aligned so submittals, material, and crews hit the same milestones.
- Resolve field issues on site-sequence, fit-up, access, and safety conflicts-so plans and reality stay in sync.
- Report progress, risk, and forecast to division leadership early enough to protect the job, not after the damage is done.
- Leave every project with a complete closeout package and a customer who will call us for the next one.
Environment & Resources
You report to the Division Manager and lead day-to-day delivery with estimators, detailers, shop supervision, and field erection. Work runs from a Central Texas office with regular visits to active sites. You will use Tekla, Trimble Connect, and our project-management system-not side spreadsheets-to run schedules, submittals, and cost. Safety equipment is provided. Core hours are Monday-Friday; the job site sets the rest of the calendar.
Essential Qualifications
- Proven record running commercial construction projects through closeout, with steel fabrication or erection experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read structural drawings and specifications and catch conflicts before they hit the shop or the crane.
- Hands‑on control of schedules, budgets, and change orders-not just status updates.
- Clear written and verbal communication with customers, subcontractors, and crews under deadline pressure.
- Comfort on active jobsites and a non‑negotiable standard for safe work.
- Working proficiency in MS Office; Tekla or equivalent steel project systems is a plus.
Why This Role
- One accountable team from shop drawings to topped‑out steel-not a handoff between strangers.
- A defined path: deliver here, and Senior Project Manager and division leadership are earned, not promised.
- Modern steel tools and a fabrication shop built for complicated work, not workaround culture.
- People‑first values-Safety, Teamwork, Ethics, Enthusiasm, Leadership-with real benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, PTO, and paid volunteer time.
- Thirty‑plus years of quality and pride behind the name you put on the transmittal.
We move fast for the person who can own the job.
