Job summary

University of South Carolina Upstate is seeking a Project Manager in Spartanburg, SC to oversee design and execution of capital construction projects on campus. You will work with USC Upstate stakeholders and state partners to manage scope, budgets, schedules, and quality.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience; a driver’s license is essential. This is a full-time position with a 40-hour work week, Monday–Friday, with some evenings and

Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 2+ years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience.
  • Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering and 5 years of project management experience with design, construction and renovation projects.
  • Knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to construction and modification of facilities with renovation components.

Responsibilities

  • Executes development and coordination of major or significant capital outlay projects through the planning, design, bidding, construction, and close out phases including meetings with campus clients and external consultants to determine scope and duration.
  • Monitors contractual commitments including compliance with drawings and specifications, performance of contract administration and close-outs, and University acceptance of completed work.
  • Manages capital project activities including design and development of bid/ construction documents, assisting with the bid process, procuring services, monitoring change orders and budgets, and providing project status reports.
  • Maintains knowledge of university and industry requirements, codes, and standards including procurement laws and LEED/Green Globes certifi cation.
  • Communicates and coordinates project issues with internal and external clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, and university administration.
