Job summary

Diamond Peak Recruiting is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join a Charlotte-area team. The ideal candidate has a background in piping, HVAC, or plumbing and will own complex commercial projects.

Local, travel, and relocation options are welcome. You will manage budgets, schedules, and client relationships, coordinating with engineers, GC's, subcontractors, and field teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical construction project management experience.
• Commercial mechanical construction background strongly preferred.
• Experience with piping, HVAC, or plumbing projects.
• Strong understanding of plans, specs, contracts, scheduling, and cost controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
• Oversee budgets, schedules, contracts, change orders, and profitability.
• Coordinate with clients, GC, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams.
• Review plans, specs, submittals, RFIs, and change orders.
• Lead project meetings and maintain client relationships.
• Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and schedules.
• Ensure safety, on-time delivery, and budget adherence.

Diamond Peak Recruiting is partnering with a well-established mechanical contractor to identify an experienced Mechanical Project Manager for their growing Charlotte-area team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional with a background in piping, HVAC, or plumbing who is looking to take ownership of complex commercial projects while working with an established contractor and experienced leadership team.

Local, travel, and relocation candidates are welcome to apply. Candidates outside the Charlotte area should be open to relocating or traveling as needed for the opportunity.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, contracts, change orders, and overall profitability
• Coordinate closely with clients, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field teams
• Review plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change orders
• Lead project meetings and maintain strong client relationships
• Work with estimating and preconstruction teams to ensure successful project turnover
• Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, and project schedules
• Monitor project progress and proactively address issues before they impact cost or schedule
• Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget

Ideal Background

• 5+ years of mechanical construction project management experience
• Mechanical contractor background strongly preferred
• Experience in piping, HVAC, or plumbing
• Commercial construction experience required
• Strong understanding of plans, specifications, contracts, scheduling, and project financials
• Experience with design-build, plan/spec, GMP, or negotiated projects
• Proficiency with construction technology such as Procore, Bluebeam, or similar platforms
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required
