Job description

SUMMARY


Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Project Manager for our Data Center Solutions Group to manage large projects, interacting with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will be flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient, maintaining a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. They should have the aptitude to anticipate problems, critical issues, and opportunities, and the capability to creatively problem-solve and develop viable solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with attention to detail, are vital. The Project Manager will provide overall leadership, manage project quality and timeliness, mentor the project team, and develop and enhance customer relationships by providing excellent service.


RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Prepare proposals, assist in pursuit presentations, and contract negotiations.

  • Manage design engineering projects from concept to completion, including permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, constructability reviews, and design closeout.

  • Oversee the financial health of engineering projects, maintaining schedule and budget through design completion.

  • Develop and maintain project financial projections, including budgeted and earned value.

  • Report regularly on progress, cost and schedule metrics, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, design questions, potential impacts, and issues requiring office support.

  • Determine and allocate project estimates into the financial system.

  • Manage cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisions.

  • Provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment.

  • Manage subcontracts and suppliers for the project.

  • Oversee budget for and select trade partners and designers.

  • Develop scope and manage subcontracts.

  • Serve as the main point of contact with clients and on-site representatives.

  • Coordinate with clients and engage in strategic planning.

  • Assist with reviewing owner agreements, master scope, budget, subcontracting, staffing, environmental compliance, and schedule management.

  • Build positive relationships through frequent interactions and quality service, fostering future opportunities.

  • Manage design change orders and determine submission timing to clients or on-site representatives.


QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Electrical, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of seven years of construction management or related experience with large projects.

  • Proven ability to handle complex projects effectively.

  • Strong organizational skills for managing multiple tasks.

  • Basic understanding of construction law and accepted business practices.

  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, project management, and relevant web applications.

  • Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies.

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.

The base salary range for this role is $128,300 - $192,500, with higher ranges for certain locations (Denver, CO; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Washington, D.C.). Salary is based on experience, skills, and internal equity.
