Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end project management for technology initiatives, including planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and execution.
• Develop and maintain project plans, roadmaps, charters, status reports, and communication materials.
• Facilitate meetings, document decisions, track action items, and ensure project deliverables meet client requirements.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including developers, analysts, architects, QA, and business stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with client project management methodologies, governance processes, and reporting standards.
• Manage vendor relationships, contract deliverables, and performance expectations.
• Support change management activities, including training, documentation, and stakeholder readiness.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager for an on-site contract in Austin, TX.

Contract: 12 Months

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead and coordinate complex technology initiatives across the agency. This role manages project planning, execution, timelines, risks, and stakeholder communication while ensuring alignment with client standards, governance, and enterprise objectives. The PM will work closely with technical teams, business units, vendors, and leadership to deliver high-impact IT projects on schedule and within scope.

Key Responsibilities

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of experience managing IT projects in enterprise or government environments.
• Strong background in project planning, scheduling, and risk management.
• Experience working with cross-functional technical teams (developers, QA, infrastructure, security).
• Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, or similar).
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver projects on time.
• Experience with state agency environments or public-sector IT strongly preferred.
• PMP, PMI-ACP, or similar certification is a plus.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience with Texas state agencies.
• Familiarity with DIR standards, accessibility requirements (WCAG), and state project methodologies.
• Background in modernization, cloud, infrastructure, or enterprise application projects.
