Job summary

The Porter Company is seeking a Project Intern to assist the Project Team with coordinating information for commercial HVAC and plumbing projects. Candidates will support the Project Manager and handle project document control, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and scheduling coordination.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Science, or a related field, and strong skills in Microsoft Office and project management software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Construction Science, or related field; completed or in progress.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Support Project Manager in driving project flow effectively from inception to completion.
• Assist with project document control including insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and correspondence.
• Ensure documents are centrally saved in the project’s document control software.
• Verify correct drawings are distributed to field.
• Support project schedule showing completion, delivery dates and sub requirements; integrate into manpower schedule as required.
• Track deliveries of major equipment and subs; request delivery notices.
• Coordinate with field personnel to ensure QA/QC documentation is completed and submitted.
• Gather information for changes in work and turnover to estimating for pricing.
• Assist field personnel in closeout of project.
• Escalate critical issues to the Project Manager with recommendations.
