Job summary

Bank of Montreal (BMO) is seeking a Project Finance Analyst to support origination, structuring and closing of complex financing transactions across power, utilities, infrastructure, and energy sectors. You will work with senior professionals to build models, run credit scenarios and prepare memoranda.

The role emphasizes fast-paced teamwork, independent work under time constraints, and rigorous due diligence, including AML/KYC, contracts, and vendor reports.

Qualifications

• Financial services experience analyzing large corporate, commercial or project finance credit risk.
• Project finance experience and financial modelling experience.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with ability to present complex information succinctly.
• Self-starter with ability to learn quickly and work independently while also being able to work effectively in a team.

Responsibilities

• Support, and eventually lead, various aspects of project financing transactions through to closing.
• Understand the construction, operational, and financing inputs to the project financial model including investing significant time in preparing and explaining credit scenarios and sensitivities, key metrics, and summary outputs.
• Credit analysis
• Risk and return analysis
• Due diligence (contracts, legal memoranda, etc.)
• Third-party consultant reports (independent engineer, market/insurance/environmental consultant, etc.)
• Credit documentation support (financing agreements, term sheets, etc.)
• Financial closing coordination
• AML/KYC and client onboarding activities and coordination
• Virtual data room (VDR) management
• Assist in preparing credit submissions for internal and external stakeholders
• Summarize diligence materials to develop and produce coherent recommendations and identify key risks and mitigants
• Run internal return models and capital committee memos
• Coordinate with credit and operations teams from origination through closing and funding
• Considers risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adherence to policies and procedures.
