Qualifications

• 12+ years of construction experience, ideally within mechanical construction.
• At least 5 years of leadership / people management experience.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC, piping and/or plumbing systems.
• Strong understanding of project financials, forecasting, change management and commercial management.

Responsibilities

• Lead a large project team or oversee multiple project teams simultaneously.
• Act as the primary senior point of contact for clients, general contractors and internal leadership.
• Oversee project financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, cost reports, revenue projections and change orders.
• Provide regular project performance and status updates to senior leadership.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and identify opportunities for additional work and revenue.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
• Work closely with estimating, engineering, operations, field leadership and other internal departments.
• Lead, mentor and develop Project Managers, Senior Project Managers and other members of the project team.

The Opportunity

A leading mechanical contractor is looking to add an experienced Project Executive to its growing team in Virginia.

This is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing large-scale projects, multiple project teams, and key client relationships. The Project Executive will have responsibility for project performance from both an operational and commercial perspective while leading and developing project management teams.

The position would suit an experienced mechanical construction leader who has progressed through project management and is comfortable overseeing large, complex HVAC, piping and plumbing projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a large project team or oversee multiple project teams simultaneously.
• Act as the primary senior point of contact for clients, general contractors and internal leadership.
• Oversee project financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, cost reports, revenue projections and change orders.
• Provide regular project performance and status updates to senior leadership.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and identify opportunities for additional work and revenue.
• Develop and implement strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
• Work closely with estimating, engineering, operations, field leadership and other internal departments.
• Lead, mentor and develop Project Managers, Senior Project Managers and other members of the project team.
• Manage staffing requirements and provide coaching and performance feedback.
• Ensure projects maintain high standards across safety, quality, schedule and financial performance.

Ideal Background

• 12+ years of construction experience, ideally within mechanical construction.
• At least 5 years of leadership / people management experience.
• Strong background delivering large and complex mechanical projects.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC, piping and/or plumbing systems.
• Strong understanding of project financials, forecasting, change management and commercial management.
• Proven ability to lead large project teams and multiple stakeholders.
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
• Comfortable working with senior leadership, general contractors and project owners.
• Engineering or construction-related degree preferred, although equivalent industry experience will be considered.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and construction/project management systems.
