Job summary

Spencer Ogden seeks an MEP Project Executive to lead hyperscale data center construction, guiding design, procurement and commissioning of complex MEP systems to meet schedule and budget goals while maximizing customer satisfaction.

This role oversees project teams of engineers and managers, develops long-lead procurement strategies, negotiates contracts, and maintains strong client relationships, with travel as required and eligibility to work in the United States.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of proven construction experience on hyperscale data center projects.
• Expertise in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems including high-voltage substations, UPS, and advanced cooling.
• Proven track record managing PM teams on large-scale, technically complex projects.
• Ability to hire and develop talent across construction operations.
• Willingness to travel for projects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME on data center construction, guiding constructability, system selection, and VE for critical MEP infrastructure.
• Oversee design development, budgeting, and scheduling for hyperscale data center projects.
• Lead procurement and subcontracting strategies for long-lead MEP equipment and vendors.
• Ensure team performance with feedback, delegation, and recognition.
• Build long-term client relationships and deliver effective sales presentations.
• Negotiate contracts and supervise Project Engineers, PMs, and Coordinators.
• Mitigate risks related to speed-to-market, supply chains, and commissioning processes.
• Manage accounts receivable and ensure timely project closeout, including Level 4/5 commissioning.

MEP Project Executive – Mission Critical / Data Centers

Location: Texas, TX

Salary: $200,000 + Bonus

An immediate career opportunity is available for an MEP Project Executive to join a National Mission Critical team.

This individual is primarily responsible for managing project teams to successfully deliver complex hyperscale data center projects, meeting ambitious goals and budgets while achieving the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Some Things You Can Expect To Do

• Serve as the primary subject matter expert on all aspects of data center construction, providing guidance on constructability, system selection, and value engineering for critical MEP infrastructure.
• Oversee design development, budget preparation, and scheduling for hyperscale data center projects, with a strong focus on the integration of complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
• Lead procurement and subcontracting strategies, particularly for long-lead MEP equipment, specialized vendors, and trade partners critical to data center construction.
• Ensure team members understand expectations and are held accountable for performance. Provide regular feedback, development conversations, appropriate delegation, and timely recognition.
• Consistently achieve customer satisfaction goals and build strong, long-term client relationships to become a trusted advisor.
• Deliver effective and convincing formal sales presentations to prospective customers, highlighting technical construction expertise and capabilities.
• Effectively negotiate business and legal provisions of construction contracts.
• Supervise a team of Project Engineers, Project Managers, and Project Coordinators.
• Achieve team financial and risk management goals, with a specific focus on mitigating risks associated with speed-to-market, critical equipment supply chains, and complex commissioning processes.
• Participate in and/or lead owner/client presentations, negotiations, and team meetings.
• Ensure the team’s accounts receivable are managed effectively and collected promptly.
• Ensure project closeout activities, including Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning of all critical systems, are completed to the highest standards and within required timelines.
• Ensure warranty issues are resolved promptly and effectively.
• Coordinate with market sector leadership to balance workload, responsibilities, and integration between sector and regional teams.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with 15+ years of proven construction experience and a significant portfolio of successfully delivered hyperscale data center projects.
• Demonstrated expertise in the complex electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems that form the backbone of modern data centers, including high-voltage substations, backup generator plants, UPS systems, and advanced cooling solutions such as liquid cooling and chilled water systems.
• Proven track record of successfully managing Project Management teams on large-scale, technically complex projects.
• Ability to recognize, select, and hire top talent at the appropriate time, while developing talent at all levels within construction operations.
• Willingness to travel for projects as needed.

You Will Really Stand Out If You Have

• Proven ability to lead project teams on hyperscale projects exceeding $400M in value.
• Advanced knowledge of data center commissioning processes, including Level 1-5 commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
• Experience implementing and managing energy control plans, including complex LOTO, energization activities with Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and working with Energy Marshal teams.
• Existing relationships with key hyperscale clients and a deep understanding of their unique standards, protocols, and delivery expectations.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000. The base salary may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position may also be eligible for additional compensation, including commission and/or incentive programs.
