Job description

Job Title: Project Executive – Utility OR Rail / Transit Electrical Construction

Sector: Utility | Power Infrastructure | Rail | Transit

The Opportunity

A well-established and rapidly growing electrical contractor in Massachusetts is looking to appoint experienced Project Executives as it expands its Utility and Transportation divisions.

We are interested in speaking with senior electrical construction professionals with a background in either Utility OR Rail/Transit – you do not need experience across both.

This is an opportunity to join a highly successful contractor with a substantial secured backlog, major long-term projects underway and significant investment in expanding these specialist divisions throughout New England.

The business delivers complex electrical infrastructure projects ranging from smaller capital programs through to major projects valued well in excess of $100M.

Utility

Relevant experience could include:

  • Electrical Substations.
  • Power Generation / Power Plants.
  • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
  • Transmission & Distribution.
  • Major utility infrastructure.

Candidates with particularly strong Substation, Power Generation or BESS experience are of significant interest.

Rail / Transit

Relevant experience could include:

  • Traction Power Substations (TPSS).
  • Overhead Catenary Systems (OCS).
  • Rail Signals.
  • Communications Systems.
  • Train Control / Protection Systems.
  • Station Electrical Systems.
  • Rail and Transit Facilities.
The Role

As Project Executive, you will take senior responsibility for major electrical construction projects and provide leadership to Project Managers and wider delivery teams.

Depending on your experience, you will join either the Utility or Transportation division.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Provide senior leadership across major electrical construction projects.
  • Oversee Project Managers and project teams.
  • Take responsibility for project financial performance and profitability.
  • Manage forecasting, budgets and commercial performance.
  • Maintain senior-level client relationships.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, procurement and delivery.
  • Manage contractual issues, change orders and project risk.
  • Work closely with field and executive leadership.
  • Mentor and develop Project Managers.
  • Support pursuit strategy and future project opportunities.
  • Help drive continued growth within your specialist division.
What We're Looking For
  • Project Executive, Senior Project Manager or equivalent electrical construction experience.
  • Strong background in either Utility OR Rail/Transit electrical construction.
  • Experience delivering large, technically complex projects.
  • Exposure to major specialist projects valued into the tens of millions is highly desirable.
  • Strong financial and commercial management capabilities.
  • Experience overseeing multiple projects and/or project teams.
  • Strong client-facing and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Experience mentoring and developing Project Managers.

The company offers an exceptionally strong overall compensation package, including:

  • Healthcare premiums fully paid by the employer – $0 deducted from your paycheck for health insurance.
  • Comprehensive Blue Cross Blue Shield healthcare plan.
  • 401(k) with 100% company match on employee contributions up to 4%.
  • Company vehicle/truck.
  • Company gas/credit card.
  • Company cell phone.
  • Wellness program allowing employees who exercise or walk for at least 30 minutes, three times per week, to earn up to an additional week of paid vacation.
  • Excellent career progression as both specialist divisions continue to expand.

The fully employer-funded healthcare is a particularly significant part of the overall package, removing a cost that can represent thousands of dollars per year for employees elsewhere.

Why Join?

This is an established electrical contractor with a strong presence across New England and a track record of delivering major, technically challenging infrastructure projects.

Both the Utility and Transportation divisions are targeted for significant growth, creating genuine long-term progression opportunities for senior project professionals joining the business.

The company also places a strong emphasis on long-term employment and company culture, with numerous employees having built careers spanning 10, 20 and even 30 years within the organization.

This is an onsite position based in the Greater Boston area, with two office location options available.

If you are an experienced electrical construction professional from either the Utility or Rail/Transit market and are looking for a senior position combining major projects, a highly competitive package and genuine long-term growth, we would be keen to speak with you.
