Job summary

Water & Wastewater Equipment in Boonton, NJ is seeking a Project Engineer to own engineered equipment projects from order to shipment. The role splits time between the office, our nearby fabrication shop, and occasional customer sites, fully onsite.

You will manage schedules and budgets, coordinate with sales, engineering, purchasing, and production, and interface directly with municipalities and contractors. A mechanical degree and 4+ years of similar experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 4+ years of project engineering experience in manufacturing, water and wastewater, or public works.
• Hands-on experience owning engineered equipment projects end to end.
• Strong ability to read and review fabrication drawings.
• Highly organized with strong written and verbal communication with external stakeholders.
• Local to northern New Jersey and able to work fully onsite.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineered equipment projects from order receipt through shipment, holding schedule and budget.
• Serve as the customer-facing engineer on each project with consultants, contractors, municipalities, and end users.
• Prepare and manage submittal packages, O&M documentation, project schedules, and internal coordination across departments.
• Work with public works requirements: specifications, prevailing wage, compliance, and approvals.
• Coordinate daily with in-house fabrication shop and outside fabricators on drawings, build sequencing, and inspections.
• Review drawings and designs for fit, function, and manufacturability before they reach the shop.
• Participate in weekly project engineering and fabrication meetings to keep the backlog moving.
