Job summary

Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to own the product design from concept to production. You will lead design and validation, plan engineering activities, and ensure the product meets requirements within schedule and budget.

Responsibilities include 3-D CAD modeling in CREO, collaboration with manufacturing and quality teams, and creating manuals for marketing. The role requires strong communication, multitasking in a fast-paced team, and hands-on prototype testing.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of relevant experience in product design and manufacturing.
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking applied to attachment product design.
• Able to work on own initiative but also contribute to cross-functional teams.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• CAD drafting/ modeling proficiency; Creo preferred.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Overview

As a Project Engineer for Metalcraft of Mayville, you will be instrumental in product design from concept to production - complete ownership of design and validation. The Project Engineer is responsible for planning and execution of technical engineering activities to make sure a project is completed at a competitive price, according to a schedule, and the product meets or exceeds the specified requirements. These projects would include Attachments for our compact construction equipment i.e. buckets, grapples, trenchers, stump grinders, augers. We need an excellent communicator, who is self-motivated and can multi-task in a fast-paced team environment. You will need exceptional analytical skills for problem solving and design experience in relevant fields. This position is focused on product design and the design validation and not on manufacturing and process development.

Responsibilities

• Ability to design with consideration of project team direction, product industry trends and developments, user experience, and safety and environmental standards.
• Structural, hydraulic, mechanical, electrical, and/or control system design.
• Product research and defining details of new product or product improvements.
• Create, modify, and analyze, the engineering design of assigned projects, products, systems, and/or components.
• Optimize product designs for performance, cost, standardization, and manufacturability.
• Manage design records.
• Hands-on with prototype builds, product testing planning and the actual testing, and assessment of tested product to evaluate what worked and what didn't.
• Work with manufacturing to ensure successful implementation and launch of new product introductions.
• Work with Manufacturing and Quality Control Team's to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Create and manage Engineering Change Notices.
• Prepare manuals and assist Marketing with sales documentation.
• Leadership skills within the Attachment Engineering team and our many other teams.
• 3-D CAD modeling and drawing creation using CREO.
• Other duties as assigned.

• A combination of 5-10 years of relevant experience in product design and manufacturing is preferred.

• Ability to transform conceptual ideas into practical and manufacturable solutions.
• Strong communication and project management skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• CAD drafting/ modeling proficiency. Creo preferred.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related experience.
